Counter-Strike: United 5 to focus on Source; dropping CEVO 1.6

United5 organization has decided to concentrate its Counter-Strike team on Source.

As we head deeper into the season, the United 5 orgranization looks to make some changes. In under a week, two teams have made the switch to better their chances in the future -- United 5 and zEx. They have also forfeited the remainder of the season after being 1-5 in CEVO Pro.

As we look at U5's record in CEVO Pro Source, it has hurt them trying to play both games at once. Hopefully with this transition, we can see more wins from a top American team. After eight straight losses, they have caught on a three game winning streak and look to go for four after the change. United 5 is also planning to attend the Buy.com LAN event on March 30th. The organization also had to say that they will mixing the lineup up a bit and will release the roster in a couple of weeks.

As of now, there are now only two teams remaining that use the same roster for both Source and 1.6 in CEVO-P: Jax Money Crew and Evil Geniuses.

nah its hard to keep transitioning to each game, and 4 matches a week? thats outragious, very hard to do

This is all valves foult for not selling the airing rights for CS 1.6...

Its 1.6 being a million years old fault, get an upgrade and switch over ;p Even if there is things in source you hate, play it for like 3 months and you will like it. Ask all of these 1.6 teams that have finally switched.

#21 1.6 teams didnt switch because they like source more,or because the games old, and if you dont know, all 1.6 teams that switched to source are still practicing 1.6...they are still keeping in shape in 1.6 until Direct Tv event is over.. i think they said 3 seasons? so yea...

I just got source, and i have played it for about 3 days and scrimmed a bunch. The game is to random seriously. The sound in source is bad, i cant tell where i get shot from. The running kills every1 gets on me is anoying. And i see way to many headshots coming out of the wall, wheres the guys hitbox is. It really seems inconsistant that game. Aiming for the face does NOT work all the time. Source players have to agree its a random game.

Most 1.5 players hated 1.6 when they switched over. The only reason they did is because they were forced.

I have never said this really, but this is a MAJOR case of careface.

1.5 changed the things that were crap in 1.3 (hearing enemy radio, useless smokes, walking plant)...1.6 introduced nerfed awp, overpowered ricochet and pointless changes to recoil.

this can be used like an alegory.. usually Americans are the sellouts! in cs its no diffrent, to Americans, money > everything...

You know, I think at first the teams other than coL and 3D just thought they could play both games and still be able to rape the original Source teams. Now that they're being disabused of the notion, they're beginning to realize where they need to put their priorities if they hope to cash in on CGS.

#34 You're naive. As if Virtus.pro wouldn't do exactly the same in the event that this first season of CGS was being held in Europe instead.

#29 You sound like you're playing on 30 tic pubs. Also, there's no way the sound in CS:S is worse than 1.6. Source uses a modified Miles sound engine that is far superior to what 1.6 has (just DirectSound with some minimal EAX/A3D support).

If Iam right, correct me if Iam wrong, direcTV's qual is starting in 3-4 months in EU. Where UK will have a qual for themselfs, skandinavia will have one and I cant remember the rest. Iam positive that some 1.6 teams are going to switch.

But!
Some of the huge teams, fnatic, 4kings, alternate attax and n!faculty and so on all ready got a css-team so I doubt that they'll focus on one game with two teams. Logicial they would prolly try to "dominate" both games with the 2 teams that they got. Just guessing, the future will show if Iam right :D!

I haven't heard anything about Euro qualifiers yet. Where did you get this information?

Pandemic also plays in source cevo:m, so why not have them listed up there with x3o =P

#23, U5 hasn't been a good 1.6 team in a long time.

#31, whats a bigger difference 1.5 --> 1.6, or 1.6 --> Source? Source is on a completely different engine, has completely different models, and completely changed gun mechanics and physics.

#35, Last I checked, coL was undefeated in Cevo-p and had just trounced Hyper! in the finals of the Intel Invitational. Besides, I don't recall anyone on 3D or coL ever saying they were going to play 1.6 and Source at the same time.

i would switch to source too if i was losing every 1.6 match i played...

back in dallas to tear up 1.6 all over again.

#43 Hyper! didn't get "trounced" by compLexity, it was fairly close.

I'm a coL fan, but I wouldn't say that they trounced Hyper!

cs:sauce is a waste of time, i don't understand how people actually enjoy playing it over 1.6 ? guess they dont have brains or something... in that case they deserve eachother
