Counter-Strike: Project_kr joins eSTRO

By: Mark Cheben - Published March 12, 2007 at 3:30 AM EST - Writer Archive
The second place finisher of the second KeSPA cup has signed on with the Korean organization eSTRO.
Project_kr is the third gaming division within eSTRO joining the pro Starcraft team and the Warcraft III pro Dong Moon "GoStop" Kim. Project's last foray into multi-gaming organizations ended when their six month contracts with Hacker-Gaming ran out. eSTRO now is the first Korean organization to contain Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and Counter-Strike teams.

Project_kr scored several impressive results in 2006 with a third place at WEG Masters, a fifth through eighth place finish at WCG 2006, and a sixth place finish at CPL Winter. Most recently project took second place in the second KeSPA Cup to Lavega Gaming, the former home of several project members. With this second place finish Project's lordship over Korean CS is in serious question, also Lunatic-Hai is close to being able to compete in Korea again.

Estro's goal is to become the best eSports 'club team' as Mitchell Hong, the CEO of IEG, says in eSTRO's Press Release.

“eSTRO will strive to be the best eSports club team by raising the bar not only in Starcraft but also international games such as Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike,” said Hong. “Everyone should welcome project_kr to their new home in eSTRO and support them in every event they attend.”

The team will move into a new practice house in Seoul and will be practicing for the WCG Asian Championships.
