The Russian talent was caught cheating during a match for one of the uyR tournaments the ESL organizes every week.

Although many Russian players have been linked with using "duckjump" scripts, which allow them to move at a faster pace without making any noise, the reason behind Filimonchenko's ban is way different.

According to the ESL, the Virtus.Pro player used a cheating program that blocks Aequitas, the organisation's anti-cheating tool.

Filimonchenko is now banned from all ESL leagues for a period no less than two years. However, his time may be shortened if he enters the ESL "rehabilitation" program for cheaters, but if that possibility will be granted to Filimonchenko is yet to be decided by the ESL admins.

This rehabilitation program consists of an essay that would have to be written by the player, where he would have to realise that he made something wrong and that he has changed ever since. More informations about this rehabilitation program can be found here.

Since Filimonchenko didn't play for the Russian national team in the ESL ENC tournament, there will be no consequences for the European squad.

Virtus.Pro had already been removed from the Extreme Masters tournament due to the use of illegal binds and a bunny hop script, penalties that pushed Virtus.Pro over the acceptable point limit.

However, this wasn't a real ban, which means that Virtus.Pro will be allowed to enter the upcoming ESL tournaments.

Virtus.Pro hasn't expressed its views on this matter yet and the consequences of this case in the team's future are still unknown.

sometimes you can be inspired by love but sometimes it can push you away

:D always those russians... don't they know that Aeq is secure (even with those 200$-cheats) and that ESL doesn't screw around with scams, no matter if they cheated for the first time, for fun or just forgot to turn out the thing after pubbing(:D) ?

Well I have been cheat free for 15 days now and I feel good. It was hard the first few days.

It started off simple. A walk duck toggle and some buy scripts. Then I started 16 bit smoke. You know they were right about it being a gateway hack. In the end I was aimbotting with no walls. I didnt even have to sit at the PC to win.

Its a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake.

That essay is pretty hard, heard that only about 10% are accepted and even then you will be watched and have to follow special rules for a long time.

Thanks for telling your story sally, anyone else wanna stand up and share there story to the rest of the group like brave sally here.

not surprising, virtus.pro can beat almost any team on lan but when they will get owned by random onliners on internet that would be more than frustrating. im not approving this behaviour, its unprofessional and should be punished but im sure virtus.pro will play extremely well this year. they raped sk 16-0 on lan without strats and now they are practicing a lot so i have high expectations. and virtus.pro doesnt care about online anyways thats the reason why they decided not to attend NGL-ONE and Eurocup.

#36 there are rules, that has absolutely nothing to do with russia. You can't deny that russia used problematical scripts in the past.

At all who laugh at the reha-programm: it exists already for a long time in germany and it's prove itself. The essay isn't that easy, and all participants are although marked as former cheaters later on. there are sctrict limitations for them and they get observed.

doubleduck is a bug of game, it not cheat! It is the doubtful fact in set of games and not only with russian players. Forbidden binds absolutely other conversation...
