The Virtus.Pro captain Alexey "LeX" Kolesnikov had suggested yesterday that someone could have hacked and modified the Aequitas file of his team mate, Viktor "Sally" Filimonchenko, thus resulting in the two-year ban applied to the Russian talent due to using a program that blocks the ESL anti-cheating tool.

However, ESL, through its European Head Admin, stated today that such accusations are false and that Aequitas is completely secure.

"There is no way to hack Aequitas data," Hoedemakers said. "It is directly uploaded from the player's PC to the ESL servers. No one can alter Aequitas files.

"All data is kept safe and secure on file servers in one of the largest and best dedicated hosting facilities in Europe."

Regarding the cheat Filimonchenko used in the match for the uyR tournament, Hoedemakers said that the Russian star was caught using "an Aequitas blocker with built-in wallhack," a tool that was apparently Aequitas-proof, but that, with "recently implemented detections", has caused the ban of more than fifty gamers, "mainly German players."

This said, Filimonchenko will most likely see his name removed from the ESL competitions for a period no less than two years, unless if he agrees with the rehabilitation program, a possibility that has yet to be approved by the ESL admins.

Does aequitas AUTO upload when you download or does the player himself upload it after the match. If he uploads it after the fact then couldnt it still be altered?

#8 the file himself does not AUTO upload - the player has to upload it afterwards - the file could be altered

#8 You have to upload a zip file yourself which includes your config files and screenshots taken. But all your config files and other information (which is not all available to the public) are also stored locally automatically on the ESL servers as a backup.

Aequitas also adds checksums to all files so we can also check if something gets altered when a player uploads his files.

this is 1 reason why players should not cheat, your bound to get caught.

some of the most talented cheat and anti-cheat coders (organner etc.) tryed to find a way to dupe Aequitas and none made it. It's, without dispute, the best anti-cheat software out there, coded by professionals and monitored by the best and experienced anticheat-admins in europe. As the statement says, ESL is watching suspects over period of time and trys to gather as many evidence and cheaters as possible. They don't publish their methods, so no one can be sure their cheaet is secure.

organner (polish cheatcoder) made it. if you pay ~100 euro youll get a clean version, then you gotta pay with around ~120 euro (dont know exactly) for three more updates. but at this period you are safe.
this is not a commercial. but if you got the money youll get the hard ones.
esl only can detect public hacks - the stuff that you can google. guess sally just did it and was enticed by the possibility.

but yes - the ESL AEQ system is without a doubt the best that exists and its fun to play their ladders because you can be 99% sure that you wont get ripped by kiddows with pixelaimbots. the guys that pay for that aeq-proof stuff mostly hang out at ESL-EAS (way up to pro series) and will suck at lan anyway. its easy to ignore them online.

still the coder ESL|T-Man is a HOBBYcoder - and NOONE knows how aequitas works - and NOONE ll ever see an evidence.
but the ESL has ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to ban sally for nothin. they just did it because they detected that google-hack.

And yes, it is kinda funny - i just read in the ESL-profile of T-Man that he is sometimes able to actually see the exact version of the cheat that has been used - AND STILL THE PPL SAY THEY HAD PLAYED CLEAN....

#20 the news said that. yeah. maybe there were ppl that once paid for that Orgia reborn 9, but the ppl that paid for the updates are still out there. and only that guys have the guarantee by organner.

believe me ppl, guys that stick up to organner and stand in contact with him, that payed the service by organner, will get the information as soon aeq changed it detections (-> updates). at this time they gotta wait for organner to get a new version.

its sad. but as i said - theyll suck at lan anyway and are easy to ignore because A youll never meet em at lan or B you gotta lot to laugh about. ESL|T-Man is still doin a great job. but as soon T-Man starts to get better and better and learns how to reach the not open source hacks faster it ll get a lotta harder for organner. 1ON1 tman vs organner ;)

/edit: #22 the MD5-Checksum of a aeq files is immediatly transmitted and every editing of the file gets detected. thats a full workin function of aeq, nothin special the eyes of a coder but pretty smart for this usage.

well - since the tool pays off, i guess those coding guys will look out for "private hacks", find out how they work, and add some routines to detect new hacks too... so .. of course there are ways to hack the files, but you ll never be safe in the long run

So what stops a cracker from modifiying the uploading process to send tampered checksums that are equal the expected ones for a "clean" client. Or rather, make Aequitas calculate the checksums on other files than the ones in use?

The information about using cheats isn't even stored in the .zip-archive. It's being sent to ESL's servers directly, perhaps even while the game is still running.

hhhm maybe sally should make an official statement and tell the truth... if he cheated i guess its not that important because everyone knows he's a skilled lan player and didnt really cheat for competition, but more for fun or sumthin.
I mean the ESL just coudn't make an exception only because hes a famous player, otherwise just every famous player who has lan skills could just cheat around and say like "hey I dont cheat for competition so let me cheat :p".

ps: dont blame me because of the german flag up there, i was born in kazakhstan and i speak russian so im kinda neutral. Oh and no I'm neither borats cousin nor my sister is #2 prostitute in kazakhstan :p

Think simple: Do you really think that the ESL/AntiCheat-Team don't have some guys who buy this cheats/updates?

some random guy buys cheats => send it to T-Man => analyze => detect => ban

And T-Man is official employee from turtle entertainment (http://www.turtle-entertainment.de/mitar.. so he isn't really a "hobbyprogrammer".

Call me paranoid but i dont believe this.And another thing can anyone tell me the reason for sally to cheat?In a net cup, in a game his team lost bigtime,for the risk being banned from esl?Let me answer for you: NO REASON AT ALL,even for fun is not a valid explanation sry.I really dont want bring my conspiracy theory here but everyone who knows the whole uyR cup scene better,gets the picture:(

this is getting ridiculous, viktorf played awesome today on lan but if he cheated it must be punished. nevertheless i really understand how sally would be feeling. hes a awesome player and getting owned by random onliners is more than frustrating. lets just say sally is a bad loser hes not a onliner (virtus dont like online thats why they arent playing in NGL-ONE & eurocup). cheers to the mature germans. germans are good guys only a few kids screwing their image. another bad loser, mYm|REAL:

Nobody except Viktor knows the reason for what he cheated for. But anyways it is not important at all, but just as the others said, I do not see any reason why the ESL should blame Viktor for cheating as he is still able to compete in tournaments like WCG,ESCW, CPL etc. in which he will be able to show everyone how good a player he really is. So I do believe in the facts published by Aequitas and the ESL, Viktor cheated, for whatever reason and just as everyone else he has to be punished. It will not make him a worse player, but it will definitely damage his and his team's imagine even though I am sure he never used one of these cheats in a serious match, no CS-player should, at any time, use cheats and if he does so, he should be punished. Unluckily Aequitas does only oberserve matches of the ESLs' leagues but maybe one day there will exist a tool just like Aequitas which will observe every single gameserver out there. If it will be as uptodate and effective as Aequitas is at this time this would mean a minimum of cheaters and a maximum of fun for all of the players out there, so everyone of us just should hope that there are some as talented and ambigious programmers out there at valves headquarters as T-Man is at the ESL's.

I dont know any american leauges that use Aequitas but I DO THINK! ESEA, CEVO and the Aequitas makers should get together to furtur strengthen there programs I mean ... I couldnt hurt could it?
