Counter-Strike: x6tence, redCode in sioK controversy

By: Luis Mira - Published July 02, 2007 at 5:53 PM EDT - Writer Archive
X6tence and redCode are in the midst of a dispute regarding the Spanish talent José Adrián "sioK" Rodríguez.
X6tence confirmed this week in its ESWC profile page that it was planning on attending the event in France with the current redCode member Rodríguez.

However, Rodríguez had renewed his contract with redCode in mid-May, a deal valid until January 2008 and which strictly forbids the Spanish player to attend any event, tournament or competition without redCode's consent.

Team x6tence was on the lookout for the 19-year-old talent and reached a deal with him before making any contact with redCode about a possible transfer.

"X6tence, knowing the situation of the player, negotiated first with him and then asked us to release the player, an option we discarded," redCode said in the official website.

"Then, they made an unrealistic offer for him, after which the negotiations were closed, as they were hoping that the pressure the player was making would solve this conflict by itself."

RedCode confirmed that Rodríguez has been removed from the active lineup but will remain in the team until his contract expires or his situation is solved. Until then, he is not allowed to attend any event.

If the player wishes to resign from the team, redCode is ready to proceed with legal actions against the Spanish player, a situation similar to that of Navid "Kapio" Javadi, who was not allowed to represent mousesports until his contract with aTTaX expired.

"This decision is to defend our rights," redCode says. "It is totally impossible to plan a team if we see players fleeing to other squads, specially three weeks before we attend our events."

This said, x6tence will attend the event with the following roster:

Spain Jose "DrastyK" Blasco
Spain David "DeyF" Arroyo
Spain Antonio "FlipiN" Rivas
Spain David "r1bera" Antón
Spain Jonathan "MusambaN1" Torrent

I would never sign a gaming contract for more than a year. Never know when things are not going to work out. :[

aTTaX with Kapio or Begrip with Face aren't a good example, in aTTaX or Begrip, each player earn a salary and it's logical that their players have to sign a contract, but in redCode not

It's a contract though and you signed it under your sole discretion, not under duress. Regardless of whether or not you get paid, you signed the contract with the knowledge you won't receive salary and breaking it in any industry will be irrelevant in court if you break a contract.

Sweet, take his butt to court. Too many irresponsible e-kids and clan hoppers messing up teams.
People have to realize a lot of time and effort goes into making and maintaining a team, not just money and if you are going to be a pro on a pro team, then like any other sport you are expected to drink your ACTRITE daily .
If u have nothing good to say, then plz stFu
