Counter-Strike: ID Gaming replaces g3x in ESWC

By: Luis Mira - Published July 04, 2007 at 11:13 AM EDT - Writer Archive
The ESWC committee has confirmed ID Gaming as the team to replace g3x in the tournament.
GotFrag reported earlier today that the Brazilian team g3x could not attend the ESWC event due to financial problems.

ID Gaming, the team that finished third at the local ESWC qualifier, joins mousesports and ALTERNATE aTTaX in one of the biggest events of the year.

This said, both Germany and Sweden will be represented in the Counter-Strike tournament by three teams each.

"We got a call today from the german ESWC organisation if we could replace g3x at the ESWC Grand Final," ID Gaming told SK-Gaming.com.

"Although we don't have the easiest group with wNv.cn and NoA, we still hope to reach the second groupstage and perfom well overall."

Due to Andre "nooky" Utesch having left the German team, ID Gaming will participate in the event with the current Frankfurts-Finest talent, Fatih "gob b" Dayik.

ID Gaming will attend the event with the following roster:

Germany Bodo "Bodo" Sbrzesny
Germany Christopher "Fragmaster" Kolla
Germany Christian "todi" Hackmann
Germany Hannes "Hanso" Dunkel
Germany Fatih "gob b" Dayik

:O SK > ID

good luck ID!!! :P

rofl @ SK, karma
another one bites the dust

No good replacement, but a logical one. Sweden already got one bonus slot, Germany had two bronze medals on ESWC and ID finished 3rd on German Qualifier.

yeaaah sure? and who would be put in g3x's place?
NATIONAL? brazil is mibr and g3x. exotic is ok but sub-par, anyone else would be too sub-par.
they should invite forZe, forZe almost beat 69N on ASUS, losing 2-1 overall, reaching second spot, beating virtus
mTw.dk = mortal Teamwork indeed.

#16 of course. eswc is stupid for wanting the event to look like a world cup between countries. a world cup of anything with only five players on per team is dumb.

#17 that would have been a good option but russians always have a lot of problems fixing visas in time etc, and asking a russian team 1 day before match considering they have to fly for 10 hours is almost impossible

lol 1 day practice and preparation for the ESWC-sweet :P they will have no chance.
but im lauging at all the guys who are writing crap like "bullshit, dumb decision,we want SK etc".
The brazilian dont have the money-Germany was kinda successful in the ESCW and ID made the third place at the national qualifier-NiP was already nominated and they got 3 teams there(dont forget that!) so it was clear that its fair to invite a german clan.over and out;)

btw they wont have any chances but gl tho!

#25 ID is quite new compared to other German teams.

And it seems like you just pulled that list out of your ass, ID, attax, forze and Dignitas didn't compete at a top level until 2006

ID Gaming was chosen from the logical ESWC bench : Country Performances. After Sweden, USA and Denmark, came Germany.
Part of the ESWC Odyssey... We'll frag Paris this summer :D

For me SK would be the greater addition in this tournament..
But if you think about it... it wouldn't be fair.

To choose the strongest teams is not the right point of view!
After careful consideration you wouldn't have such exotic pluralism in this tournament!
5 swedish teams, 3 danish teams, 2 finnish teams, 2 norwegian teams, 1 polish team, 2 german teams, 1 brasilian team, 2 russian teams, 2 'asian' teams and you have almost the whole cs skill in a tournament. But is this desirable? I think teams like A-Gaming, k23, Immunity and so on are an enrichment.
The worldwide eSport community is establishing a better connection and we are also able to see the upcoming evolution of eSport in other parts of the world. So in my opinion it is an aspect of fairness and development to conserve this pluralism.

#20 Its a worldcup cause every nation is represented, SK cant go because there already 3 swedish teams participating so its obvious some other spot is filled from another country. ID is pretty good tho but futher then coming out of groupstages i cant emagine.
