Counter-Strike: Interview with GG64|Blqcko

Taha "9DeT" Benssiba sits up with GG's ingame leader Guillaume "Blqcko" Bakaga about his experience and expectations for the ESWC finals in Paris.

You've had a rather rough first match going against MIBR on de_train, yet you managed a decent 10-5 on CT side before dropping 6 rounds in a row on T side, ultimately losing the match 17-13. What went wrong during that T side?

"We can't really tell, on one hand you have a very solid MIBR team that we've faced, they were probably better at closing rounds which is something we may have lacked on a couple of rounds. we also have faced a couple of situation where we just got unlucky, no other term could better define this in my opinion"

There were 2 TK's on T side, both in very critical situations. Do you think you've facing some communication problems or maybe is it lack of preparation?

"Communication was smooth, and even if Train is not the best map we could've played a team like MIBR on, there were just 2 situations where a shot could've landed on the other team, but it did not. As I said, I think it was just 2 unlucky situations"

Do you believe the outcome would've been different if these 2 unfortunate TK's did not occur?

"I don't want to make up excuses for our defeat, but I guess that from a logical perspective an extra player on our side and one less on MIBR side would've probably made the difference"

You're up against MYM and XCN tomorrow, is there anything you're planning to change to avoid falling into the same situation?

"Not really, we've never been fans of anti-strating, we'll just play our game and see how it turns out. We're confident in our chances and are really looking forward to tomorrow's matches"

It seems like making it through group stage will already be rather challenging, how good do you think your chances are?

"We're confident that we can perform well, MIBR is one of the top seed, yet our match against them was rather tight, so we're hoping to do well against the other teams."

MIBR are obviously looking forward to taking home another ESWC championship, having been the first team to play them at this event. How likely do you think that's going to happen?

"They are solid, and they have very good individual skill and teamplay, they're pretty good at closing rounds, even when down 1 player, so I guess they might be able to pull this off"

Do you think the roster changes GG have gone through lately have had a negative impact of the overall level of the team?

"I think the lineup as it is now is a good combination,we've lost against MIBR but we will be putting ourself to the test again tomorrow and hopefully be performing better"

You've taken over the in-game leader role for some time now with GG, is there any concern this might put extra pressure on your shoulders during an event like ESWC?

"As I've said before the game, I'm not really feeling stressed about this really. It's rather impressive to be on the main stage, but that can't be a reason to be distracted or to under-perform really, and I don't think we stumbled on any of the two"
