Team EG, a favorite heading into the NewEgg LANfest 2005 event were upset by 3DO. The Canadians were not able to live up to their second place showing from this past CPL Summer 2005 event. EG is therefore eliminated from the tournament with 3DO moving on to the double elimination stage.

Team EGPasadena, CA (GF) - The comeback train of Canada's golden child, Team EG, was run off the tracks by 3DO. Matched up on inferno, EG just did not seem to be able to execute and close the match down. Griffin 'shaGuar' Benger was the temporary fifth for EG, a formula that had a stellar second place showing at the Summer CPL; however in the LanFest 2K5 group play, the team found themselves on the lower end of an 8-7 half and also dropped an ECO round as Counter-Terrorists.

Where experience and skill was at a high, momentum seemed to be the spice that EG was missing. Most rounds came down to handicapped bomb planted situations, but 3DO proved crucial when the timing called for it.

With the match almost lost, EG put together a last charge, rallying support and momentum towards the finish. However, EG came up short and found themselves at the receiving end of an upset and possibly faced the brutal reality that their plane tickets required them to stay in town just long enough to regret the trip.

3DO finished the second half after losing five rounds to EG, 8-5. At match end, the score was 16-12. This marks the end of Griffin 'shaGuar' Benger's stay with EG, moving forward to his permanent stay with former teammates Sal 'Volcano' Garozzo, Josh 'Dominator' Sievers, and Mikey 'Method' So in Team 3D.*

3DO moves forward towards double elimination play Sunday morning.

*Pending later reports, Griffin will still be playing at the Canadian WCG qualifiers with Team EG.
