Ministry of Defence has confirmed the departure of the Counter-Strike squad following the impossibility of attending the GameGune event. During its spell at MoD, the Danish squad reached the quarterfinals of the EuroCup tournament and was looking forward to its debut in the big LAN competitions, which would happen later this week at the GameGune event. However, the MoD management told the team that it wouldn't be possible to pay the players' expenses after all, which jeopardised the squad's chances of flying to Spain. "At the beginning, it wasn't sure that we were going, but then we asked the owner of MoD if it was possible for us to attend, and he said yes," Patrick "NervoN" Paaske told GotFrag.com. "We all took some days off from our jobs then. But yesterday he said that he didn't have the money so we couldn't go." The Danish squad has now returned to the Mirror name as the players believe the organisation lacked the necessary support. Ministry of Defence management admits it was too soon to send the team to compete abroad but denies the suspicion of having failed to support the squad. "I did not want to promise them anything before August, feeling the team needed some time to get the team play togheter again," MoD told XplayN.com. "After they pushed hard to go to Bilbao, putting it as an ultimatum, and I saw the possibility to get them there, I did regretfully say yes during the last week. That gave me a very short time to deal with this, but when I said yes - everything was set for it. "Former active teams who played actively with us know what gave to them, it's obvious that we that we still fulfill our commitments, even though things did go wrong in this case." Mirror is expected to face SK Gaming for the EuroCup tournament next week. Despite considering the Swedish side the main favourite to win the match, Paaske is looking forward to this challenge. "This will be the hardest match for us so far, SK is the favourite for this match, but if we can get our game to roll we have a chance to win," he said. Mirror has now the following roster: Daniel "anizz" Aniff Patrick "NervoN" Paaske Casper "cautioN" Skaaning Casper "Lapez" Thunø Martin "trace" Heldt |
