Taha "9DeT" Benssiba sits down with Oscar "RoScO" Paroccel about his expectations with Back To Reality ![]() Could you briefly introduce yourself? My name is Oscar “RoScO” Paroccel, I’m 21, currently leading team France, and playing for BTR D4 steamrolled all the teams it faced during the Gamers-assembly, including Goodgame. You were chosen as favorites to take the high seed in the ESWC qualifiers, but then you were dropped by a barely decent Atlanteam in the quarter finals. What happened exactly? I experienced heart problems during the French ESWC qualifiers, and I had to spend the rest of the day and the day after in a hospital undergoing tests; I was weakened during that quarter final against Atlanteam. Furthermore, my mates were very concerned about my health condition and we couldn’t concentrate much on the match. Still Atlanteam looked very strong that day, and we didn’t know how to fight back really. They were simply better that day. You boot camped very hard for this season, seriously enough for the team to live together in an apartment together for a while. There was clearly a very important investment from both the players’ and the sponsors. On paper you had everything in your favor, but after the loss at the ESWC qualifiers, the team fell apart with you joining BTR, Scarium and yank leaving the team, leaving only kara and yorlin. How do you feel about that? I am very disappointed that I had to leave Dimension4, but we couldn’t meet our main goal which was to win the ESWC qualifiers. We’ve really invested a lot in this project and at the end were very disappointed by the outcome. This is why D4 is disbanding. Concerning Dimension4’s new roster, I think it will be a very good one because KaRa and YoRLiN will undoubtedly pick very good players to complete the lineup. You left pS to join D4 under rather murky circumstances. Your statement back then mentioned that you never wanted things to end up the way they did and that errors and responsibilities are shared. Can you give us more details about what happened exactly? I’ve left pS because D4 were proposing an unparalleled project at the time for a French team. I wanted to give it a shot playing with players like KaRa and YoRLiN which I’d played with during my experiences with aAa and GG. I didn’t choose my words wisely back then to announce to my teammates my departure from pS. They really reacted very badly to that. You've came back to your initial companions, but this time playing under the BTR tag and no longer pS, what triggered this move ? What we’ve always lacked with ParadiSe is the structure and financial backing-up to meet our goals. BTR is offering us this opportunity to really get there. We’re able to train in the best conditions, and we’ve got a number of very good partners offering us the possibility to attend major European events. You're going to be attending GameGune along with a number of top European teams. The roster being still relatively fresh, what are your expectations for the event? We’ll play the matches as they come and go as far as possible. If the slightest opportunity to take down a top team shows up, we’ll take it. We do not have a specific goal in mind, we believe that we can achieve very good results, but I guess at this level it will mainly depend on our morale on D-Day. A number of top teams have cancelled their attendance. NiP, your old teammates from GoodGame, and the group's former highest seed Virtus pro announced that they will not be able to make it to GameGune. This leaves you in a much better position to get past the first group. How did you guys react to this? It doesn’t change much for us really; we still need to beat SoA and Logitech.fi which are both very good teams to be in the winner’s bracket. At least one win will be needed to advance so everything is still to be decided. We’re going there to play some of the best teams in Europe. We’re really sad that we will not be able to play Virtus.Pro in group play. You may have to play team emuLate as NiP's absence had made them the highest seed in their group. We know that emuLate is a good team, and if we get to play them, it’s going to be a very tough match for us. We’ll still try our best to not think about it too much, and just play our game no matter the consequences. We’d rather not play another French team, because it’s always hard to drop compatriots in international events. Roster instability is something that has always plagued the French scene, ruining some of the most promising rosters. Having yourself been on a number of top French teams, including aAa and GoodGame, what are your expectations with BTR? The players will sign contracts binding them to BTR for 1 year. It’s probably the best way along with motivation to stabilize a team. Thank you for your time and answers, any last shout-outs? Thank you and GotFrag for the interview, I want to thank our manager Michel Chauvineau, Micromania, TF1.Games as well as KOSS for their support and the Center KART for hosting our boot camp. |
