Turkey won't have any representatives at the World Cyber Games event after Samsung has decided to cut the financial support of the qualifier. According to Siberlig, Samsung and some of the other sponsors have decided to cut the financial support, which would make it impossible not only to organise the qualifier but also to send the teams to the United States. This is not an unparalleled situation, as Samsung announced this month that it would cut the financial support of the Spanish qualifier by 70%. Tunç "Carpediem" Sertataş, player of DarkPassage, last year's Turkish Counter-Strike representative, said: "We are sad with this situation. We hoped we would be the ones representing Turkey in the WCG event but now it is impossible." |

supporting the esports.
It still sucks regardless to see absent countries for this event. Hopefully next year the sponsors can pull through a bit more. Its still shaping up to be a good event.
And I don't understand how Samsung can stop sponsoring the tournament, as it is THEIR tournament. Stupid decision.
last year dp placed at top16 however where is your uberjapan rofl
and #19 is still upset about turkey beating bulgaria in whatever cup it was months ago...get over it nerd.
btw <3 #29 silip athiyos ftw !
Samsung and SiberLig (N)
Where are the contracts between sponsors and these regional qualifiers? Did they not bother to get them? If not why not? IF they did, then why aren't they legally pressing these issues.
I suspect WCG Turkey, rather than Samsung, really dropped the ball here. Why can't they try to find other sponsorships? Why can't they host a qualifier anyway and then let players try to secure their own travel expenses however they like?
Also why did WCG Samsung pull out? If they don't feel they're getting value for money from their sponsorship then surely that's Siberlig's fault? Why couldn't they justify a return on investment here? Could they not get the media interested?
I think rather than expecting big companies to throw money at esports events, the community needs to be sure they can demonstrate profitable results.
Even if there's no WCG for Turkey in 2007, I'm sure that someone else will get the rights of WCG Turkey for future years, and we'll get more success as we deserved to.
#7, at least we have much more chance than team smiley
neler neler yazmış bilmiş =O sana geüç vermediler onun için di mi bunlar jasdfds
What i'm trying to say is that Turkey would of been given a chance If they weren't bad at saying the things out and trying not to blow the tournaments. Believe me, the situation of 1.6 is good in Turkey, but it's still on an undergo where the other countries are all far ahead from Turkey.
