Counter-Strike: mibr talks about new 1.6 team

By: Luis Mira - Published September 21, 2007 at 8:59 AM EDT - Writer Archive
Made in Brazil has confirmed the creation of a new Counter-Strike team if it is one of the two CGS Latin America picks.
The Brazilian team is currently in Mexico city to participate in the CGS Region 2 Championship.

Despite the team's lack of practice, Made in Brazil has high chances of being drafted, as Paulo Velloso, CEO of Made in Brazil, was the General Manager appointed for Rio de Janeiro.

If Made in Brazil is drafted, the team will stop playing Counter-Strike: 1.6 to solely focus on the tournament's game, Counter-Strike: Source.

Made in Brazil will then engage in talks with other Brazilian players in order to create a new Counter-Strike: 1.6 team.

"If we are selected in the draft, we will become a CGS team and play Counter-Strike: Source, and we will create a new Counter-Strike: 1.6 team with other players," Leandro "chataum" Loiola, manager of Made in Brazil, told GotFrag.com.

Although the team does not discard the idea of signing foreign players, Made in Brazil plans on targetting Brazilian talents.

The team should be led by Bruno "bit" Lima, who saw himself unable to attend the CGS Championship due to age restriction.

I love how corporations like this (CGS), without passion, kill the things we create by pursuing some false ideal.

LoooL, but I can understand mibr. They are unable to keep successful in 1.6 so they are switching to source. They want the money too bad :) I dont think, that this decision would have been made if mibr had shown better performances in the last tournaments...

#10 blame the players, not the corporations. The players are selling out, corporations just show the dollars.

#19 pub statistics don't hide the fact that 1.6 is on a major decline as far as competitions are concerned. sadly, as CGS expands globally the same thing will happen with foreign scenes that happened in NA

#24 you would do the same damn thing given such an opportunity.

****ING SELL OUTS

God, I hate what Source has done to this game. Actually, I blame Valve more than anyone.

If CS Pro Mod fails, then I'm moving to RTS full time.

Don't get me wrong however, I'm not advocating playing source, just ridiculous that you call them sellouts when I'm sure more than half of you would do the same thing if you were guaranteed a spot in CGS.
I love her.

#31 this is exactly what happens with all sports. Except CS will NEVER EVER be accepted by the general public, so the only thing they're succeeding in is splitting the CS community apart. The only people who like watching it are the players.

The public will not just sit there watching headshots time and time again, there needs to be variety and CS does not offer that. There's only so many they can watch before thinking "yawn yawn, seen it all before". It's also not very broadcastable. Most sports give you a full view of the field, on CS you have 10 players in all different positions, so the only way to keep track is to flick the camera through everyone and that gets tedious for the viewer.

Also, graphics is a poor excuse for why Source should be over 1.6 aswell. Look at StarCraft compared to the newer RTS. It doesn't look anywhere near as good but it's still the most successful pro game of all time and always will be (unless SC2 becomes popular)

Gameplay > Graphics for both players and spectators.

RTS is the only genre that appeals to the public, FPS games COULD appeal, but only 1v1 DM games. Team games don't stand a chance.

RTS is not appealing in the least for me.
Just blame Valve, they screwed up TF2 as well :)

I was talking about competition, not about the number of amateurs, which is still really high ^^

look at it this way: they can go to source now that their 1.6 status is still mildly respectable.. if they remain here, they'll just drop lower and lower as far as respect goes.
gl to them. They won't do jacksht if they reach the world finals though.
