wcR vs. x3o

Kicking off the action we saw the number three seeded x3o taking on the tournament’s lowest seed West Coast Rockers. With an impressive +13 frag/death ratio at the hands of Jeff "Hero" Mettetal, x3o took this match on de_nuke with a strong 16-8 finish.

eMg vs. Turmoil

There was no confusion heading into the playoffs: the team to watch would definitely be the top seeded Team Turmoil. With their flawless 14-0 record it seemed as if they were a surefire bet for the overall winner. Enter eMg, a team that during the regular season had struggled and emerged with a fourth seed and a slightly above even record in matches played. Lim and Evolution turned it up for this game and tore through Turmoil with a second half that they absolutely dominated, including an ace by Evo.

Turmoil vs. wcR

In what could arguably be one of the most exciting matches of the event, the once mighty Turmoil were taking on the statistically worst team in competition. Despite the earlier loss to eMg this would be an easy win for the top seeded team right? Wrong. After winning only four rounds CT side, a hungry wcR team powered back to tie it up and send the match into overtime. Although Turmoil would go onto win, this match is required viewing for anyone who likes to root for the underdog.

x3o vs. Turmoil

On the controversial de_Tuscan, x3o was coming into the match hot. With the momentum of a 16-4 blowout only a few minutes before, they pounced on the now mortally wounded Turmoil and knocked them out with a resounding 16-6 evisceration. Hero once again displayed some insane game play that included double four frag rounds and ended with him at a positive eighteen frags.

eMg vs. x6

In a precursor to the grand finals that would come later that day, Check-Six took down eMg 16-13 in a close match on de_dust2.

x3o vs. eMg

Despite the animosity behind the "zEx3o" scandal, the traditional members of x3o put on an impressive performance throughout the playoffs. However James & Co. couldn't do enough to pull out the win from an eMg squad that seemed to be playing their A game from the opening of the gates. A tense rally put the cap on x3o and gave eMg a spot in the finals.

x6. vs. eMg

The grand finals brought us a match up that few predicted from the start of the event. Check-Six had yet to lose a map and heading into this Best-of-Three format seemed as if they would meet little resistance. Those lofty perceptions were shattered when upon playing eMg on de_inferno they received a vicious 16-6 loss. Following the victory, eMg's morale plummeted when, after losing the 2nd half pistol and the following two rounds, they had a huge 3-15 deficit. A last minute rally gave them 7 rounds but it was not to be. Check-Six took the twenty-sixth round for the win and a 1-1 series tie. The final map was the key to a near perfect playoff record. With yet another 16-10 win, Check-Six took top honors and the $5,000 prize.
