Let's fast forward. Many have labeled you as the best player in the world. How do you feel about being given this title? Do you agree? I am working on my skills all the time and I think there's still a lot work ahead of me. Maybe at the moment I am one of top players. And of course it feels great to hear that you are the best and so on. You have been playing for PGS for over 3 years. Considering your talent you could have easily made a move to a more established team from a different country. During this time, have you ever considered switching teams and playing for a foreign organization? Yes I've been thinking a lot, since I had some offers. But I think my team at the moment is one of the best teams all over the world, plus these guys are my good friends and I think playing in a different team without team wouldn't be such fun as it is right now. With regards to the team, do you see PGS expanding outside of Poland? Perhaps adding a foreign player if a roster change ever came about? I don't think we want to change our lineup at the moment. And some of us are studying so it would be hard to leave our country. All we can do is to bootcamp from time to time before big events. It works good right now so we don't see any reason to move somewhere. PGS' skill level, tactics, and overall level of play have surged over the past couple of years. What do you attribute to the team's international success? It's ridiculous and silly but to be honest I don't think our team-play is at a high level, plus we use some old tactics, because we are too lazy to work on the new ones. Maybe it's the skill what made us reach the top. During a match, what is your role on the team? What roles do your teammates have? TaZ is our in-game leader, strat caller. I think we are kind of different than some other teams, because from what I have heard some of top teams have like 1 leader who does all the strategy stuff and the rest is only listening to his orders during the game. In our team everyone is thinking about tactics, everyone has ideas for some strategies during the game. Well, TaZ is not always listening to the rest but sometimes it helps a lot. But sometimes it's bad, when at the beginning of a round 5 guys is giving their ideas. Prime Question GotFrag Prime Subscribers have the chance to ask questions for our Behind the Gamer articles! doGz:After reading a previous article about PGS, one of your teammates said that you guys yell just to get yourselves pumped up during LAN matches. Is this some sort of a ritual you have to do? Is this something that you do during online matches too? No that's not any kind of ritual. It's something what is good for the team, for it's motivation during the match. On the internet it would be hard I guess, screaming on the microphones so you can't heard anything. It happens on LAN matches only, important ones. How does the average day look like for you? How is your time split between practice and other activities? It all depends if it's before a big event or not. Because if some LAN is coming, our 'other activities' become more time spent on CS, for example playing deathmatch or some mixes. If not, well I try to do sports when I find some spare time. Gym, jogging and swimming. PGS has been around for several years, but has only reached international fame. What would you say is the cause for the rest of the Polish scene to be lagging behind in terms of producing skilled teams? Is there a reason why Pentagram seems to be the only team from Poland that is able to reach international success? Is attaining sponsorship in your country a difficult task? To be honest I think it depends on the experience. After attending more and more LANs we gained more and more experience. We were the first team in Poland which had sponsors who were able to send us to other countries for events. Other teams are not able to do that and I think they are not as motivated as we are, since they can not go to LANs. |
