Counter-Strike: mTw disbands EPS team

By: Luis Mira - Published January 07, 2008 at 9:58 PM EST - Writer Archive
MTw has confirmed the disbandment of the EPS Counter-Strike team.
The German team failed to impress in the EPS league, having finished in sixth place with twenty-seven points, only four behind a spot in the LAN Finals.

All mTw players have been allowed to open negotiations with other squads as the management showed no interest in renewing the contracts, which expired shortly after the end of the EPS season.

Despite his short stay at mTw, Joona "natu" Leppänen stated to be sad with this move but confessed that he plans to continue playing at the highest level.

"This was obviously an unfortunate turn of events, I really thought we could have done great in the next EPS season but the management obviously decided to focus on their new Danish team and just keep it local for their German squad," he told GotFrag.com.

"My future at this very moment is still a question mark, I'm looking into opportunities as of now and we'll see what comes out of it."

Meanwhile, mTw confirmed that it plans on announcing a new EPS Counter-Strike roster in the near future, with several reports suggesting the interest from the management in a local Hamburg squad with the likes of Kim "vio" Schümann and Dennis "rez0r" Bethke.

The mTw EPS squad was the following:

Germany Nils "bara" Waldowski
Germany Andre "nooky" Utesch
Germany Michael "neo" Mitrega
Austria Thomas "uLTi" Teissl
Finland Joona "natu" Leppänen

Austria Michael "PapsT" Schmid (inactive)
