Procon has clarified the situation of both Counter-Strike and EverQuest titles in Brazil. Starting yesterday, Procon has been supervising the regular distribution of both titles in stores, but has failed to find any copies as the games are usually purchased over the internet through download. Nevertheless, Lima stated that Procon has already notified Brazilian on-line stores with Counter-Strike and EverQuest titles available for purchase in order to have these products removed. According to the Procon superintendent, as Justice has not prohibited the use of these games - only their distribution - LAN centers in Brazil are not forced to delete these titles from the computers. "We are notifing all LAN centers of a Judicial decision. To play or not to play depends on a moral criteria from every person and every family, since the games are prohibited for minor," Lima told told UOL.com.br. |

NO COMENTS..........T_T
That ai will eventually turning into nothing, here a few days back to normal.
Problem solved
Then why ban it if its a moral issue...
What about all the **** shown and depictated in movies, media, and music? The government is being overprotective, jeez.
Like people are really not going to sneak cs into their stores or online.[/b]
they cant buy it? .. but they can play it? ... thats idiot -_-
Basically this will just make 1.6 a lot more costly to get for brazilians :P they will have to order it abroad.
this is really stupid, and you foreigns can learn a bit more of why Brazil doesn't develop as china or india: OUR STUPID GOVERNMENT!
brazil has A LOT OF more important issues and it seems that they are more worried about cs than education, health system or security system...sad but true :/
there are no scientific evidences about turning someone more or less violent by playing 'violent' games, and people (the stupid ones) still think that it's possible..
our government is so damn stupid that nothing is going to happen (prolly cs won't be banned, and lan centers will work normaly), there are still many many gamers, many many jobs that depends on CS...
You can't BUY CS anymore. But you're allowed to USE IT.
the guy said "playing or not depends only of a "moral judgement", since the game is forbidden for under 18.
Yes, some of the guys in Brasil are stupid. You can't physically buy it anymore, but if you have it, you can use. And also, you can jsut download it from Steam.
don't try to understand it, we stopped trying long time ago.
nd more: since it's a decision from One State, Goiás, even though it CAN be applied in the whole Country, but until that happens, the "organ" responsible for it (PROCON), in EACH STATE, can decide if its allowed or not.
São Paulo's Procon, where CS is still alive, is still analyzing the situation, and probably won't do it, the game is already forbidden for under 18
The problem is, the guy who did must have heard of one map, and decided to do so.
They said something like:
"players should choose to play as terrorists, living in the crime, or play the good guys, cops.
Drug dealers take 3 UN members, when the police tries to rescue them, the blood begins...war tactics are used to win..blabla
it spreads the hate, pain, death..and so on."
i bet they've never looked at it...they would see that this is not CS
saying like that is easy to aprove anything
