Following a successful run in the CEVO placement tournament, DarkSide has officially announced their lineup for the upcoming season. It consists of several familiar faces. The captain and founder of the team, is RJ "rulER" Quinn Simons. Joining him fresh off their time with eMg are Matt "Lim" Beahan and Robert "Ph0bius" Irey. Rounding out the lineup are Frank "illuzion" Liccardo, and Matt "flutie" Farrell.

"Well, after things didn't work out with myself and 50cal, I had been looking around for a team, and noticed there was really nothing I was interested in doing," Simons explains. "So I decided to try to make a team and around the same time Ph0bius and Lim were no longer playing for eMg, so we decided to give it a try. Then we immediately thought of flutie and illuzion, and we had a lot of fun playing with each other."

The team came together just before the CEVO placement tournament. After a solid showing, they became one of the few newly formed teams to make the cut.

"We went into the CEVO-p placement tournament confident, went 5-0 in group play, lost in uppers to iniquity and ended up beating fe for the entrance into CEVO-Pro. Then we talked to CAL, and obtained a CAL-i spot as CAL-i this season is looking quite promising so props to Phillip on that."

Darkside took their time announcing their official status as a team. They kept things as underground as possible in order to avoid the instability trap that many newly formed teams have been falling into.

"A lot of the reason teams are dieing is because they don't make CEVO-pro, or they rush into things, which is why we took time before we announced our lineup or a channel," said Simons. "We just practiced privately and played the placement staying basically under the radar."

They will be competing in CEVO Pro and CAL invite. With Irey and Farrell living together in Florida, and the rest of the team spread throughout the Tristate area, playing in local tournaments is not possible. However the team is optimistic that they will be able to attend most if not all of the large national tournaments being held this year.
