GotFrag opens beta testing for the official GotFrag Aim Map Pack. ![]() GotFrag - The very best professional athletes in the world practice fundamentals on a daily basis. No matter how good or talented a person is, being a professional begins with the fundamentals of the game. Counter-Strike is no exception. In conjunction with GotFrag's Get Better Fast initiative and the GotFrag Revival Tour, GotFrag is proud to present the first official GotFrag Aim Map Pack. Five Counter-Strike 1.6 maps have been designed and constructed by GotFrag's Assistant Editor in Chief, Marc "Singlecoil" Turner, and are now ready for beta testing. Aim maps and AWP maps have long been a standard for practicing fundamentals by pros and pub nubs alike. They are are also a lot of fun. The GotFrag map pack includes an AWP map, two small aim maps, and two small deagle maps. GotFrag continues to strive to bring our audience what they truly want and this map pack is part of our world domination plan. In order to deliver exactly what our faithful GotFrag readers want, we have decided to open beta testing of this map pack to you. These maps are designed and built with the sole intention of giving back to our community and to allow the community to have an integral part of development. Here is what we propose Download this map pack. Install to your favorite server or try them out on the GotFrag public server and give us your direct feedback. Once we have given enough time for everyone to test, we ask that you come back here and tell us what you think. Any bugs or problems will be addressed before the maps are presented in a final release, as per your direction. Keep in mind these maps are beta (or even alpha) versions, if you will, and the purpose of this release is to involve GotFrag readers directly into the design and testing phase. Your feedback is essential to the completion of these maps. Thank you for your support of eSports and GotFrag. All bug reports, suggestions and comments for these maps should be posted right here in the comments of this article. We also ask that if you download these maps to your favorite servers that you post in this thread advertising your server. Not only do you get free maps, you also get free advertising to populate your favorite server! We will keep this post updated with testing/development progress and a list of servers running the maps. The first thing on the dev list is to change the textures of the AWP map.
Check 'em out, play on them a lot and try to break them ;)
Come back here and report your findings. You tell us what needs fixed.

gotfrag_deagle2_beta/gotfrag_aim_beta is also a good map. It's not as visual pleasing as the first. The textures look somewhat low quality (floors/window), but maybe it's just me.
awp_gotfrag_beta was dissapointing. The blocks used for cover just look horrible to be honest. Maybe a smaller banner on the pillars would look better. Gameplay wise, it's great. Not a lot of blocks (which was why awp_map was so bad) and it keeps an expectable distance.
Also something along the lines of aim_map_usp would be good.
The white is a little bright for me. Maybe darken it a little, or use a different color all together.

How about doing a mapping contest or what-not so that we get some competitive maps going? With the cs community that you have here, you would be able to try out different maps and come up with not only new maps but map-makers will also get a chance to leave their mark.

Just tested the aim_beta....good angles and spawns
The other maps are not modeled after any maps other than the fact that they are small aim maps. I made them from scratch without even looking at other aim maps.
Enough of the crap ; make this for SourcE Plllzzzzzzzzzzzzz and #30's idea is veryyyyy nice.
Anyway, that's not a bad thing, I mean you somehow show some kind of interest toward custom mapping. But please : no more aztec/dust2 textures like maps, please change it to something new, we are in 2k8 ffs
I think I now understand why gotfrag did not speak about de_blue :) too much maps in a row.

Firstly:- take a leaf out of SK's book and name them aim_gotfrag_whatever. Whenever I'm searching for aim map servers, the first thing I do is type "aim" in the map filter. Why is awp_gotfrag different. At least follow your own naming scheme :)
Secondly:- I don't really mind old/common textures, but new/unusual ones would be nice.
Thirdly:- I understand each map layout has a different purposes, but naming one map aim_beta and aim2_deagle, and the other aim2_beta and aim_deagle is really confusing!
Fourthly:- Proper names would be better. It's so much easier to instantly visualise awp_city and aim_aztec than awp_map2 or aim_deagle. If you want your maps to be chosen when the map selector list comes up, this is crucial.
Fifthly:- If I wanted to play awp_map, I'd play awp_map/awp_map2/awp_map_x/awp_PleaseKill... I don't particularly want or need a gotfrag version. The aztec textured aim map is much more interesting as an awp map (with a few tweaks ) :D The same mostly goes for aim_beta/aim2_deagle. aim_qpad/aim_sk_x/20 other similar maps have this stand-10-yards-apart-and-shoot-over-a-box style pretty much covered.
Sorry to be so negative...
On the plus side, I'm off to practice awping on gotfrag_aim_deagle_beta... :)
