The World Cyber Games makes changes to their rule sets for the upcoming 2008 tournament. The most notable change will be the removal of their "Duck Moving" rule for Counter-Strike. The rule, which was implemented for last year's Grand Final in Seattle and brought the tournament to its knees with disputes and controversy. Multiple matches in the playoff rounds had protests, leading to heated discussions and controversial match rulings. It seems the WCG hopes to resolve that issue with this change. It should be noted that while "Duck Moving" will be legal, players will not be allowed to bind "Duck" to Mouse Wheel. Counter-Strike -Added Rule: ‘Duck’ cannot be specified up with Mouse Wheel. -Added Rule: Only one coach will be permitted per team. Only during “Freezetime” coach and player interaction be allowed. -Deleted Rule: Duck Moving Source: WCG |

read it: no mouse wheel, noobs.
so lans and online can have consistent rules with each other rather than all this wishy washy crap right now.
can a client such as esea detect key binds?
esea's client kicks you on the 4th consecutive crouch hop. in 3 hops you can cover quite a bit of ground. take one step. and then do it 3 more times. not a solid fix to the solution so wondering if a client can detect key binds and kick for that.
then it could be ok for online play, imo
They just copied how ESWC handled the crouch rule.
Gj on that :D
why not add one`s more rules. ?? don`t clime on the rock ??? [de_nuke - tero site] thas very .....
heuheuehue......
Will they have a person to check whether duck is binded to mousewheel?
Thats really hard to implement unless you get something in the game itself that will not allow such binds.....
#5 you're right but not that easy to get everyone on the same pace and happy on top of that
#6 as you said this could be done, however you don't want a player to get kicked during the final (or any matches) because he pressed ctrl quickly without really duck-jumping; example: Missed double boost!
#7 we don't want it to stop the player, we want it to make it slower like if you just try to jump several times
#10 actually ESWC copied so many other euro leagues before that ... this is just the common way to do it in EUROPE and some Asian countries.
#15 Actually it followed one of my article on WCG Zone, Worldcybergames.com and that was even on Gotfrag where I actually ask people to give me their opinion about this. And I'm in no way Korean.
#24 We have the GUI that can restrict a mouse4 bind for that action. If someone tries to set it in console (wich would be disallowed AND disabled [YES IT IS POSSIBLE]) it will reset the GUI's original config instead, therefore there will be no mouse4 to duck. As for people watching, in fact we should also have a referee watching each team as they're getting ready, however sometimes we don't have 1 for each team doing their setup because we need more staff. However it's really easy to check at the end of the game (they don't have any console access and during the game there is a referee). Also I've figured out a way that the client will text the config.cfg / autoconfig.cfg / userconfig.cfg to the server so we can check the last used config.
We are also looking at some alternatives to get it fixed without a client that would kick a player or a script that would make them stop on place. Obviously the action of pressing tab really quickly is allowed (to peek over a box while standing behind it and not moving), it the Silent-run that we wanted to get rid of.
