Gotfrag talks to Trevor "p0s" Randolph about the Revival Tour and his gaming career. ![]() Does your involvement in this tournament mark a permanent return to 1.6? I wouldn't say permanent because pham and myself have a lot to prove to people to show that we rightfully deserve to be in CGS , so with that on my mind I think for next year's combine I'll be in full force playing source. As I stand right now though 1.6 is my main focus for the upcoming months with all the big tourneys coming up. So you are looking to qualify for events like ESWC and WCG? WCG for sure, as for ESWC we didn't know if we wanted to do it because gwhatkey's computer was broken and we didn't know if he would have a new one by the time it started, and hopefully we do decent in the gotfrag tourneys to get re-invited. How has it been playing with some of your old teammates in GR? It's been good for the most part so far. Gwhatkey has had computer problems basically since my return so our results have been somewhat poor without him, but other than that [it] has been a really good time. How has the transition gone from being salaried to playing more on your terms? Well it hasn't been the smoothest one but what can ya do. I think [going] back to GR and playing in a more relaxed team will give me time to remember actually why I still play cs/css compared to focusing on the money concept in CGS. Are the other players excited to have you back, have you brought any new perspectives to the team? I'd hope they are excited to have me back, but it's not so much what I have brought back to the team but what our new additions have brought to our team. We ventured out of the midwest and picked up buskey and zola. On that note, moving onto the tournament, how has the preparation gone? Anything special to get ready for it? Well since gwhatkey finally got his computer fixed we will be putting in the hours trying to fine tune everything. This weekend zola and buskey flew into Michigan so we could attend cygamz. That gave us time to get some face to face adjustments which is always really good for a team. GR took first at that, correct? Was it mostly a tuneup, any major competition there? Well sway gaming beat EG.usa + franko at that Montreal LAN so we thought they would be somewhat competitive, but didn't turn out to be that way. As for the talent pug, its made up of some good Midwest players with shrew / carder but in the end they were just a pug so we came out on top. Have you been following the NA 1.6 scene? Who do you see as the major teams to beat in this tournament? I'd say the top 3 are x3o , mob and EG.usa, and of course I'm always following the 1.6 scene regardless if I was playing or not. Obviously everyone's main goal is to win, but is there anything else you hope to get out of the competition? How do you think GR will fare? Well playing in CEVO-main , I think I play the most random kids and it's hard to base how good or bad your team is doing when you have to play against that. I guess this will give us a scale to see how we compare against the big 3. As for us, winning would be ideal but we will be realistic and just shoot to win 1 or 2 matches. Are there any teams or players you're looking forward particularly to playing, or any old rivalries to renew? Playing jame^s is always fun just because of my friendship with all of the GB members, and playing 34 would be nice for a little preview of the Midwest WCG qualifiers. If given the chance, would you join a top Source team? I am in the top source team. Could you clarify that a little? Our source team for the CEVO season since no one is playing in CEVO is pham , struk , hw, misty and myself. Any last words? Good luck to all teams taking part in the Gotfrag tourney! |
