Week one of European Nations Championship 2008 is underway with three matches being played. Germany comes into this tournament on the back of a first-place finish at Clanbase NationsCup, where it easily defeated the Russian side in the final with a score of 2-0. The Germans will meet in the opening round Spain, who looked strong in the qualifying round against Switzerland and features in its ranks names like Jonathan "MusambaN1" Torrent or Alberto "neptuNo" Molinillo. Week one will see an all-Scandinavian classic between Sweden and Finland. The Swedish side finished in third place at NationsCup but will now present a more-experienced roster with players from SK Gaming and fnatic. Finland, on the other hand, will once again show a roccat/Excello line-up, which will try to go far in the tournament after being disqualified in the CB competition. Group B will begin on May 6th with an exciting clash between France and Russia. The French squad has a very-experienced roster and proved a strong figure against Slovakia in the qualifying round. Russia comes high on confidence after a second-place finish at NationsCup and is expected to feature the same players in the ESL competition. The ENC defending champion, Poland, will meet none other than Denmark for the opening round. The Polish squad has made some changes in the team that won the previous tournament, having removed Tomasz "SheeN" Kacprzak from the squad. Denmark is now expected to show its best players after some of its most important figures did not wish to play in the CB competition.
