Issues with Russian officials have sealed the fate of China's KODE5 representative Upon arriving in Russia, the player's spirits went from optimistic to concerned when customs officials detained the squad while investigating their entrance into the country. Outside the airport, Victory Day celebrations were in full swing and due to military and government participation in those events, delays in the processing ability of the customs office itself were prevalent. The team has been detained beginning at 8:00pm local Moscow time and are still being held at this article's press time. According to Russian officials, the problems stemmed from the the invitation letter given to Team Dragon by KODE5, they cited a lack of validity and legality, prompting the Dragon's manager to call the local Chinese embassy for assistance. Consulates are currently being dispatched to mitigate the issue. Update: According to the manager of Team Dragon, the players have finally been able to leave customs and are now en route to the competition. KODE5 has stated to the team that they will hold Group D matches until the team arrives if they are late. Thank you to NiceZ.com for assisting in reporting of developments. |
