Counter-Strike: compLexity to play in CEVO CS 1.6 Season 9

CEVO confirms former 1.6 team, Complexity, to play in the Professional division for the upcoming season.
(USA) - CEVO has confirmed that the LA compLexity will be returning to CEVO Counter-Strike 1.6. After switching to Counter-Strike: Source in early January of 2007 and joining the CGS shortly thereafter, compLexity has decided to compete in both 1.6 and CSS over the summer.

Team GM Jason Lake, had this to say "We are very honored to have been selected to participate in the upcoming CEVO-P 1.6 season. The entire team is excited to return to defend our two undefeated 1.6 championships. We play and enjoy CS:S but being children of the early age of Counter-Strike, we look forward to returning to our roots. Although we can’t guarantee a superior level of skill on such little practice, we can promise our fans we’ll be working overtime to get back up to speed. Thanks again to CEVO. Enjoy the season!"

Team compLexity are no strangers to 1.6 and CEVO, winning back to back CEVO-P championships in seasons 1 and 2, going undefeated in both events. Team members Danny "fRoD" Montaner and Tyler "Storm" Wood also took part in CEVO's inaugural CEVO-P All-Star game during Season 1.

Because complexity required approval from the CGS before they could play in 1.6, the timing of their decision was such that coL missed the cutoff for the Professional Placement Tournament, but still had plenty of time to apply for Main.

Complexity is technically obligated to play Main, however, the case can be made that placing one of the most successful 1.6 rosters of all time into CEVO-Main may adversely affect the balance and fairness of the division. Though complexity seemed to struggle at WCG, it was coL's first major 1.6 outing since 2006 and they did walk away with the title and posted a decisive victory during the finals on de_inferno.

CEVO is obliged to carefully consider the impact of placing a professional-caliber team in our Main division. Should complexity "shake the dust off" and regain their former glory, all would agree that CEVO-P is where they belong. At the same time, we have great respect for those teams who work hard to advance through main and earn a spot in Pro via our professional placement tournament.

After weighing the options, CEVO has decided to grant compLexity a special exemption and place them directly into CEVO-P, thereby expanding the division to 11 teams and adding a 10th week of play.
