Counter-Strike: SoA to miss GameGune

By: Luis Mira - Published July 09, 2008 at 9:01 AM EDT - Writer Archive
Spirit of Amiga has cancelled its participation in the GameGune 2008 event.
The Danish giant had confirmed its participation at the GameGune 2008 event, which will take place from July 25th-27th in Bilbao, Spain.

However, GameGune has just unveiled that Spirit of Amiga have decided to not attend the event.

This decision comes in the wake of SoA's disappointing campaign at ESWC Masters, where it finished rock bottom of its group with just one point in four games.

"Our performances have been very inconsistent. We have beaten major international teams and we have endured major losses as well," a press statement on SoA's website reads.

"Lately we have been active in a lot of different tournaments and events, but now we need to get back to basics and work out the last missing steps to achieve more stable performances.

"We are very sorry to not being able to participate at Gamegune as it is an event we were looking forward to and it would very nice to be there."

SoA's departure leaves GameGune with a 27-team roster. GotFrag.com understands that the remaining five squads will be confirmed still this week.

GameGune has now the following attendees:

Germany mousesports
Brazil Made in Brazil
Denmark team-mates

sad thing is if x3o does good people will bash EG even worse for doing bad. But look at the teams in this tourney, three decent teams, roccat, mouz, amazing gaming and I guess we can throw mibr in there too. But honestly this isnt that big of a challenge for x3o if you ask me compared to what ESWC Masters was to EG.

i think roccat has this tournament if they play like they did at the eswc, hopefully x30 can actually place top 3, but i dont think they can beat roccat.
