The ESWC 2008 event will take place from August 25th-27th in San Jose, California, during NVISION 2008, an event designed by NVIDIA, the tournament's new main partner.

The Counter-Strike: 1.6 tournament will begin with two group phases, followed by an eight-team single elimination stage which will use a best-of-three match system.

The maps that will be used for the tournament are the following: de_dust2, de_nuke, de_train, de_tuscan and de_inferno.

The prize distribution for the male tournament is the following:

1. $40,000 USD
2. $25,000 USD
3. $14,000 USD

The male Counter-Strike competition will begin on Monday, August 25th, at 10.00 (local time) and will end on Tuesday at 21.00 (local time).

no ones gonna pick tuscan , eswc maps are decided like this:

first team removes a map
other team removes 2 maps
and the first team chooses between the other two maps left

So basically if your 2nd to remove 2 maps u can remove everything except tuscan and the map u wanna play and most likely the other team will remove tuscan because its so terrible/they dont know it.

#42 they could not go because they lived on the other side of the country and could not afford to! Motus lives in the same province as the qualifiers and played against a bunch of pugs... not one good team attented the qualifiers so motus got a free card in... pretty stupid.

im assuming eswc is moving on to better leagues instead of sticking with cal. cal/cpl probably isnt even allowing them to use cpl mill so why not move on to the next best thing? tuscan. if the first team doesn't eliminate tuscan, the second team can practice tuscan like crazy, pick it and win! i think x3o and eg has an advantage since tuscan is in the map rotation. go usa!
