So - for you who are new to the show there are two extremely dramatic stories evolving here in groups B and C. SK are in all kinds of trouble after losing to eSTRO - they are, at press time, presumably walking over Low Land Lions from Belgium before their date with the Finnish destiny; Roccat. This match is make or break for either team as they are tied with the same amount of points.

The final two from ESWC 2007 are facing off again in the 08 edition of the tournament and again on stage. The setup here is that MTW are gone if they lose this match, and the American underdog x3o progress. If the Danes win, and not be a landslide, then both European teams make it into the final eight while the US players go home disappointed.

Group B controvercy:

SK in do or die vs. nemesis Roccat

SK are fighting to catch a break here in San Jose. Earlier today their star player "Spawn" was rushed to the hospital after suffering shortness of breath and dizzyness in the tournament area. His predicament was obviously not good for the team's preparations going in to a difficult group with Roccat and eSTRO.

"Spawn" came back an hour ago but it seems the impact of his illness was felt in SK's first match with eSTRo. The Koreans won by 16 to 11. This puts the championship team on the spot. They HAVE to beat Roccat in their upcoming match to stand a chance of progressing.

During the most recent encounter between these two teams Roccat won by 16 to 11 at Dreamhack Summer.

Group C controvercy:

x3o beats MoB 16 to 1 in shady match

X3o beat MoB 16 to 1. The tension grows with rumors of MoB throwing the match to their American countrymen, meanwhile MYM, MTW and x3o squander to figure out which rules apply SHOULD MYM beat MTW to push this to a three-way-tie.

Due to ESWC rules the MoB-match will not matter - if there is a three-way-tie the rules clearly state that the difference between rounds won and lost between those three team only will be used to decide which two moves on.

In English: If MYM wins then x3o progress - if not the last American team is eliminated from the tournament.

MTW and MYM are set up on stage to have their rematch from the 2007 final which MYM won 2 maps to 1 - this time it's on one map and MTW will go home if they lose and x3o wins.

As the ATTAX encounter is a close one Pro 100 / Virtus.Pro is reliant on some help from UK's Dignitas if they are to stay alive in this tournament.

Someone crashed as Pro 100 / Virtus.Pro are up 12 to 11 against ATTAX in a very exciting game that can push group D into a three-way-tie as well. ATTAX sits comfortably at 6 points while the Russian / Ukrainian team has 3, the same as Emulate.

Emulate are at + 5 rounds won / lost while Pro 100 / Virtus are at - 5 going into the match.
