Fnatic 2-1 Mousesports

Third top 3 in three years

It has been a long day for the Swedish boys in Fnatic. They have had to endure some grueling three map matches, the last of which just finished with the Swedes ahead by six points.

They did look genuinely happy with their finish, but will they still feel that way tomorrow when they come to terms with the questionable nature of which they lost the semi final?

The third place finish earned them 14 000 dollars, it also means that they are the only team to have placed within the top 3 at CS:1.6' most prestigeous event for three consecutive years. They finished second in `06, third in `07 and `08. At the same time they did prove they are still to be considered number one in Sweden as SK fell to Mousesports.

13-9 for Fnatic.

20:20 - bsl

Fnatic took the pistol and the following save round before Mousesports bought and got their first point on the board as terrorists.

20:15 - bsl

The first half result in the consolation final is 8-7 for Fnatic.

Fnatic are up 6 points to 2 on the first half of de_inferno.

Fnatic won d2, Mousesports won nuke

The last ESWC hurrah

Fnatic are starting as terrorist on their last map of the day; de_inferno. In-game leader "carn" tried raising spirits before the game by telling his comrades that if the Swedish team win they will become the only team to finish in the top 3 for three consecutive ESWC's.

Both teams are extremely exhausted at this point so this is more a test of endurance than Counter-Strike: 1.6 skill really.

Germany refuse to go down - they are fighting for this third place; the consolation final is now forced to the tiebreaker, coming up shortly.

19:34 - bsl

Mousesports came back with a vengance during their t half on the second map de_nuke. The Germans won it 11 rounds to 4 and Fnatic will have to mount another tremendous nuke-comeback for this not to go to a tiebreaking third map.

*sigh*

Mousesports down 1 - but not out

De_dust2 was another extremely close encounter between two great teams.

When regulation time expired, our regulation rounds rather, the score was tied. The overtime saw Fnatic winning their T half 2-1 and the same result as CT gave them the map win by 19 to 17.

18:41 - bsl

Fnatic and Mousesport are tied at 13-13 on de_dust2 in the consolation final.

18:33 - bsl

Mousesports and Fnatic are tied with 10 rounds each on de_dust2.

18:18 - bsl

Due to the unforseen issues following in the wake of the Fnatic-eSTRO semi final the consolation final will switch places with the grand final.

However, the show must go on and the Swedish team are actually in their first half of de_dust2 play with Mousesports. The Germans are on the offensive side of the map and the score is 7 to 5 in favor of Mousesports.
