Counter-Strike: ESWC LIVE Blog Day 2

15:58 - bsl

The second semi final, where eSTRO and Fnatic fight for the chance to play the big game on stage later tonight is back on. eSTRO is defending de_nuke and just won the pistol and following save rounds for a 3-0 lead.

By the way - if memory serves me right Fnatic is the first team to play three consecutive ESWC semi finals.

MYM and Mousesports are at 7-4 for the Polish team right now.

15:51 - bsl

16-0 over Mousesports, the dream is still alive

Can MYM retain their ESWC title?

The controversy in their match with Emulate seems to have lit a fire in Meet Your Makers. They offered very inspired play on de_train, play that completely demolished a Mousesports team that should have been equally pumped up to go after a big win on stage versus SK.

It did not happen. In fact, the Germans did not show up at all and failed to win a single round, dropping the match by an embarrasingly blunt 16 to 0 result. While they did not seem to realize the nature of the defeat, MYM remained composed as they huddled up prior to the second map going live.

The Polish are smelling the gold they won last year, and if they can keep their momentum they'll have a historic chance of retaining it as the first team to ever play two consecutive ESWC finals with the same line-up. The onslaught seems to continue now as the Poles are up by 6 to 3 on the defensive side of de_dust2, a terrorist favored map.

Mousesports will have to dig deep to come up with the same answer that won them that fantastic quarter final match earlier today.

15:48 - bsl

eSTRO just forced the tie breaker. They defeated Fnatic by 16 to 10 on de_inferno.

15:36 - bsl

Mousesports came off a huge win against SK but their semi final match with MYM has been zero fun so far. MYM took the first map, 16-0.

15:35 - bsl

eSTRO meet west as the Korean's fight the Swedes at ESWC:

Star stacked semi final

Korea's representatives eSTRO are in a must win situation against probably the best team in the world at time of writing, Fnatic. The Swedes took the first map with ease but eSTRO fired back with a strong CT half on de_inferno.

Right now they are dependent on star player "solo" to outshoot his antagonist in black and orange, "f0rest." The Koreans are currently leading by 11 points to 7.

15:27 - bsl

Mousesports cannot find an answer to MYM's defense on de_train. The score is 11 to nothing right now. Fnatic has three terrorist rounds to eSTRO's ten.

15:18 - bsl

eSTRO are leading 7 to nothing against Fnatic. MYM won the first four rounds against Mousesports.

15:15 - bsl

eSTRO has shaken the defeat on de_train. They are currently up 5-0 on de_inferno.

15:08 - bsl

The semi final between eSTRO and Fnatic will resume with the second map, de_inferno, where the Swedes will start as terrorists. MYM and Mousesports are also about to go live, but on the first map, de_train. The Germans will start on the offensive side of the map.

14:57 - bsl

Once they got going Fnatic had no problems disposing of eSTRO's de_train defense. The Swedes won the first map 16 points to 9.

14:51 - bsl

Fnatic got off to a bad start in their CT half but rallied late. They came back and gained momentum in the process. Right now they are beating the Koreans and the score is 13-8 with Fnatic on the attacking side of the map.

14:34 - bsl

4-2 for eSTRO over Fnatic on the attacking side of de_train.

14:29 - bsl

The first semi final between eSTRO and Fnatic went live some minutes ago on de_train. eSTRO won the pistol and the next round.

14:28 - bsl

It is with an even heavier heart than at the last update that I announce that Mark Cheben was, in fact, totally correct in his quarter final predictions.

JESUIT (Gotfrag): Mousesports, Fnatic, MYM, eSTRO

I would also like to take the opportunity to apologize for trying to sweep this one under the carpet quietly.

14:08 - bsl

It is with a heavy heart I announce that none of the contestants in the press room quarter final prediction contest got a full house. We are all worthless I guess.

14:01 - bsl

The 2008 ESWC semi finals:

Fnatic vs eSTRO
Mousesports vs MYM

The matches are scheduled to start at 14:00. However, the ESWC updated it website with the new match time set for 14:30.
