Counter-Strike: spectro: "Nobody knows much about my team"

Nick 'spectro' Olea keeps it short and sweet in his GRT Player Spotlight.
Name: Nick Olea
Alias: spectro
Age: 20
Location: Upland, California
Current Team: Ferocity
Past Teams: GXS, wcR, backfire/dynamo
Favorite Game: CS 1.6

Please can you tell us who you are and a little about your gaming history?

I have been playing Counter-Strike for roughly 7 years and I’ve been competing in leagues for 5. I started attending local tournaments in 2003/2004 in Socal.

What has been your most memorable moment in gaming?

I have many, but my favorite would have to be going to CPL Winter 06 with some of my former GXS team-mates. My most embarrasing moment I won't forget was at a mini tournament where the score was 14-15 and it was a 1v1 I had 1 hp and I fell off rafters above the enemy and we lost 16-14 haha.

What is your most memorable in game/match moment?

Beating Meepins in CEVO-M Season 3 Finals. That match went into three or four over times on Nuke. Another memory that sticks out is when I won a 3v1 last round to win 16-14 against Deadzone when my team was yelling at each other in vent.

What else do you do besides gaming?

If you mean something that’s actually productive, just school where I'm just taking my general ed classes. Socially I do what most people do, go to parties here and there.

What is the story behind your alias?

No story, I just thought it was cool. My old alias from years ago (domination) was pretty lame I thought.

How would you describe your game in terms of play style?

I can be both passive and aggressive. Usually, I like to be aggressive and get an early pick before dropping back to being passive, but it really depends on the situation.

What makes you unique as a CS player?

I don't see myself as being unique. I think that everything about my play style has been done before, I just try to catch people off guard as best as I can.

What is something that very few people know about your team but should?

Nobody knows much about my team, as we haven’t been around for years. If you mean style of play, there is still nothing that is really unknown. We are pretty basic. We use our aim more than strats. Personally, they are great guys even though we sometimes argue over dumb things.

spectro getting down to business

If you had to pick a team, besides your own, to win GRT #3, which team would it be and why?

x3o or EG, simply because they are top 2 teams in the US at the moment. MoB has had a big roster shake, so I don't know how they will perform.

How do you personally prepare yourself for an event? Do you have any rituals that you perform before matches?

I try to avoid rituals before playing, I think that they just cloud peoples minds. Also, I would hate to forget my ritual one day and think that I’m going to play badly just because I missed such a small chore. I do wash my hands a lot while playing but that's only because I get annoyed with anything on my hand/mouse.

Who is your personal hero or role model and why?

Outside of the game it would be Erwin Rommel. If you know his history, then you will understand why. If you mean in-game, my favorite players to watch were HeatoN, as he has awesome style and spray, and mooN because he has great movement and a solid set up.
