GotFrag speaks with Shaun "hostile" Catron following EG's surprise domination of fnatic in their round one EM LA match. ![]() Undaunted by this news, EG set up, and started on their way to a 16-1 win over the strongly favored Swedes. GotFrag caught up with Shaun "Hostile" Catron while the team packed up their gear to walk over to the WCG US competition area and begin play for that event. Okay. You've just demolished fnatic 16-1. What happened in that match, and just how did you guys go from losing to SK, to absolutely destroying fnatic? Honestly, last night we talked over the match against SK. We all agreed that it was a bad loss, and we started looking ahead. We prepared for this match heavily. Everyone was on the same page, and all the essentials were working. We were communicating and getting set up in quality positions. Regardless of what they would do, even when they would pick off two, I always felt like we were controlling the match. We all got our frags when we needed to. Anyone who watched the match or saw the scorebot will say that n0thing was the determining factor. What did you think about how he played? Jordan's performance was huge. There is no denying that he destroyed them. There just is no other word for what he did to them. I wouldn't be surprised if that is considered the best individual performance ever seen. I really can't say enough about it. He was getting at least two entry frags a round, and was always there to respond when they picked off any of our guys. What does winning a match by such a large margin, against a world class team do for your confidence? Does this really help you out, or do you have to treat it as another day in the office to stay focused for the other top teams? It's obviously a boost for our confidence, but we have to treat this win just like it's another day in the office. We have to take away what we can and then look past it and see that the rest of the teams here are all world class and represent the best in the world. Ever since the roster change which brought you here, and even before that, EG has had a shakey record at best. At e4all, you guys have been nearly flawless. What did you guys do to make such a change? I think this team has a lot of big time LAN players. All of us have the ability to step it up when it counts. Add to that the extensive practice that we put in over the past week and things are working out. We knew we had the potential to get this good, now we just need to keep it up. Do you guys want to face SK in order to try and redeem yourselves? Who do you want to play in the draw? While we would always love to play SK again, since we've played them a bunch and just haven't been able to win, we don't really sit here and hope to play anyone in particular. We are just looking who shows up next in the bracket and preparing for them. Have you noticed any teams who have stood out as being poised to take this tournament? Yea I've been watching a bit of MiBR since they were sitting behind us. They look really solid. They got cogu back, who has been one of their biggest impact players in the past. They look prepared and I think they will go deep in this event. You're participating in two events here. Is it too much CS for one weekend? Are their any drawbacks to switching back and forth between the two tournaments? It's not too much. The only drawback I can think of is the fact that since the tournaments are being held by two different hosts, we have to switch between widescreen and normal LCD's. That takes a bit to get used to. But its way more fun having tons of matches to play in a day, rather than showing up, playing a match or two, and then being done for the day. Both WCG and ESL have been great so far with scheduling around one another. If a conflict were to arise, which event would you pick to forfeit a match? WCG is vital for us. We have got to win this event in order to go to the grand finals in Germany. So in the unlikely event we have a scheduling conflict, we would have to forfeit the EM match.
