Counter-Strike: EG.ca strikes the first blow

EG.ca wins a close battle vs Dynamo as EM Montreal starts.

(Montreal, Canada) - The first Counterstrike matchup of the event started off in group B where two Canadian rivalry teams, Dynamo and EG went head to head. Dynamo was defiantly looking to make it out of group play as they had a disappointing showing at the WCG Canada Finals after not advancing out of group play in a three way tie.

Things started off well for Dynamo as they won the knife round to occupy the Terrorist side on Dust 2. At the pistol round, they played a nice fake that forced EG.ca to rotate to B as they fell back to capitalize on Long A to win the round. After default save rounds for EG.ca on the CT side and Dynamo winning them, we went on to the first gun round of the match. A close round for EG as they almost lost a 2v1 as Evan and Tekn1cal pushed together up the long A ramp to defuse the bomb. From then on, EG struggles as Dynamo answers back with 4 rounds, putting their rivals in a tough money situation. Dynamo then finished the half with a confident lead with a 11-4 score on the first half.

After quite a long delay due to computer issues with Dynamo, it seems as though the victors of the first half started losing momentum as EG came out strong to win 8 rounds in a row as T side to take the lead at 12-11. Eventually, EG went to game point at 15-13 and Dynamo lost due to one minor detail that was omitted that could of kept them alive: to buy a kit. Mousepad pulled a nice awp shot from B doors into the tunnels to take down Tekn1kal then pistol whipped Cozen who was hitting on platform with only five 5hp remaining. Sadly, the bomb was fast ticking and Mousepad couldn't get the job done without a kit.

Dan "phys1kz" Black

GotFrag Spoke with EG's Dan "phys1kz" Black after the match;

How relieved do you feel now?

I'm quite glad we got the monkey off our back early and were able to prevail. We'll be much more prepared for mibr.

Talk us through your match, what happened on the first half?

We lost some costly 1v1s on eco rounds and gun rounds and got into a buy 1 save 1 cycle, and that never really works out with the cs money system.

You struggled against Dynamo, how do you think you will do against MIBR yet alone the rest of the tourney as you guys now advance?

I don't think this match has any reflection on what will happen vs mibr. We're all settled in now and are aware of what needs to happen.

What do you think about the chemistry of your team now. Do you feel that you have found your core lineup for EG.ca?

I'm fairly sure, pending some strong results at this tournament, that we will be together in the future.

Any shoutouts you wanna give?

I'd like to thank all of our sponsors, but especially Intel for the great event. Also, shoutouts to all the docs, harthal & xheal, and of course my man vans :D
