EG.usa and nSu fight to see who gets the higher seed out of their two-man group. After leaving No Pression, d00m, kuby and Parad1s added local player sKz and international player xp3 (from emulate and aAa) to the lineup to form nsu. They are the new hype in the local Montreal Counterstrike scene and EG.usa was their first big test on lan. North Stars United had an interesting strategy that isn't used often on nuke as it is a do or die formation. They sent two outside to rush inner from connector while the other three naded from the lobby to sell an upper push. As they picked off EG's defense at the upper site, the ones who were outside ran through squeeky as they all rushed ramp towards the lower site. They then jumped the window room to take down Hostile which gave them a slight advantage. It seems as though we thought too much about chasing kills and running a playbook strat instead of adapting to the situation for nsu as they took too long to get the bomb plant down which gave chE the chance to rotate from outside through the piped hallway to win a 2v1 and get the defuse. After a default save and a failed push towards the ramp room in round 2, nsu goes for the surprise buy in round 3 and decides to rush towards the upper site. As they flash open the squeeky door, chE was waiting with a famas and owned one of the nsu players and put doom down to 24 hp. The Canadians were still able to capitalize and dominate the upper site putting them in a 3v1 situation and eventually a won round, which forced EG to save. After a 3-3 tie though, EG.usa ran away with the match to end the first half 11-4. nsu did a very good job taking over the upper bombsite as they were able to get one or two entry kills every time, but they couldn't hold it against EG.usa's retake strategy. It shows that with a little bit more practice and communication though, they can definitely start hurting some top teams, at least in North America. The final score ended 16-5 in favor of EG.usa on Nuke. ![]() Kevin "sKz" O'Connor Kevin "sKz" O'Connor's thoughts after the match. It seems as though you guys had a close match at the beginning but started to lose it in the end, especially with holding the upper bombsite from EG.usa's retakes when they were CT. What happened? When it was 3-3, we felt pretty confident especially when we had to start off as T side on nuke first. Things just started to go downhill as we started making small mistakes that would cost us the round and in the end, EG.usa was just the better team. How is it like to play with xp3? The addition of xp3 was exactly what the team was looking for. When we left No Pression, we were in need of a strat caller and that's a role that xp3 fits perfectly well. He has international experience and gives us good support. It just sucks that we didn't have enough good practice as we were playing when xp3 was still in France and when he came here we didn't have enough time to practice together on lan. I'm positive that with time we will be able to be a better team that gives more impact to the canadian scene. How is it like to finally have international teams compete in Montreal? Having ESL is Canada is great and awesome for the Canadian community for the scene has been deteriorating for a couple of years now, with the exception of the WCG Canadian Finals. It's also nice to be able to compete against other good teams from different countries (if we make it that far :D) instead of the regular Canadian teams that attend these events. Any final thoughts? I would like to say that we're definitely looking forward to our matches tomorrow as this will also set a mark to where we stand against other top contending teams. I would also like to thank our friends that support us as we still fight to gain recognition in the community.
