Counter-Strike: Sway falls short to SK gaming

By: Alex Nguyen - Published October 18, 2008 at 4:27 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Sway gaming attempted to be the next team to put Canada on the map as they faced off against SK in group play.

Group C started today with SK and Sway Gaming going head to head as obviously it is the two Canadian teams looking to upset the Swedish powerhouse to attempt to move on to the brackets. Things initially went well for Sway as they won the knife round to choose to start off on the CT side of Nuke.

After winning the pistol round and the default eco on the second, SK bought and overpowered Sway's defense. As they tied things up, they put Sway on a 1 Buy/1 Save situation due to the low income Sway was racking in. From then on, it was just an attempt to finish the first half in a closer score. SK ended up taking that half 10-5.

Pistol round was then crucial for the Canadian contender as they worked ramp and got the opening kill.

They then took the lower bombsite together and found themselves in a 5v3 advantage. However, Robban's beastly usp closed down the Sway advantage and SK retook the lower site to win the round. From then on it was good game written all over as SK ran away with a 16-6 victory.
