Counter-Strike: MYM defeats mibr in WCG Day 1

By: Luis Mira - Published November 06, 2008 at 2:32 PM EST - Writer Archive
Meet Your Makers overcame Made in Brazil 16-10 in a thrilling encounter played on de_train.
Both teams came into this game in a must-win situation as a defeat would throw them out of the tournament in the opening day.

Meet Your Makers knew how to take advantage of the fact that it started the match as CT as it got off to a 7-1 lead, with Lukas "LUq" Wnek decisive in two one-on-one situations.

Made in Brazil then tried to respond and managed to take three rounds in a row before watching Filip "NEo" Kubski win a one-on-two situation to make it 8-4.

The remaining first-half rounds would go to mibr, leaving the Brazilians in a very good situation as they switched to CT.

But Made in Brazil did not start well the second-half, losing the first seven rounds to put MYM just one round away from the win.

The Brazilian team was down 15-7 and had a mountain to climb to still get something out of this game. mibr would take the next three rounds but that was just not enough as MYM would clinch the win with a score of 16-10.

MYM celebrating

Meet Your Makers only has to overcome New Zealand's tsw to seal passage into the last 16, which will see mibr leaving yet another tournament empty-handed.
