Counter-Strike: SK Gaming tops e-STRO in WCG Day 3

SK Gaming came from behind to overcome e-STRO and secure a place in the Grand Final of the World Cyber Games.
Korean team e-STRO looked very strong on de_train but SK Gaming served up the perfect response as it took the next two maps.

e-STRO - who started on de_train as CT - got off to a flying start as it won the first seven rounds. SK Gaming then managed to win its first round of the game, only to see e-STRO immediately bounce back and claim the remaining rounds of the first-half courtesy of Keun "solo" Chul Kang, who scored 22 frags as CT.

The Korean team also started better as T, winning the pistol round. But SK Gaming would finally be able to show its true colours as it went on a winning streak that was only stopped in the 8th round, when e-STRO made it 15-8.

Despite SK's best efforts to turn the game around, the first half-score was just too much to come back from, so the game went to de_nuke with 16:12 in favour of e-STRO on the scoreboard.

e-STRO takes de_train

A lively start from SK Gaming on de_dust2 saw the Swedish giant get the opening four rounds. e-STRO then managed to respond and take the following two rounds but SK seemed very strong on offence, making it 8-2.

The Koreans would be able to get three more rounds as CT. With 10-5 in favour of SK Gaming at the interval, the game was open for the second-half and it could easily go either way.

It really seemed like SK Gaming's players had done their de_dust2 homework as the Swedish team won the first three rounds to be just three rounds away from leveling the game.

But then it was almost all e-STRO as the South Korean side managed to get six rounds before watching SK Gaming get its 16th round to make it 1-1 on maps.

SK Gaming levels it all

The third and last map of the game was de_nuke and SK showed its winning intent from the start as it took an early three-round advantage over e-STRO.

The Korean's offensive game was producing almost no effect as SK's defence was almost rock solid and e-STRO was finding it very hard to get through, so the teams reached half-time with the score 10-5 in favour of SK.

As T, SK started out very well, winning the pistol round, but e-STRO was able to equalise right after and take the next four rounds to get back into the race for the final.

But SK Gaming would be able to prove its superiority, winning the third map 16-12 to qualify for the Grand Final, where it will meet mTw.
