Garett "GRT" Bambrough reports in for the last time from ETS 2009. In the first day, people were setting off smelly fart bomb type stuff that was stinking up certain areas for periods of time and was pretty funny to see the reactions of people… but not when it was in your area. Nothing fun really happened in the first day besides maybe when I played duck hunt on Nintendo in the game room here… that was a good part of the day ahah. Also there was a confrontation between one of the GotFrag trolls that everyone loves, “genik” and I believe emode, where some things were said and what not. Way to have some balls boys! I found a lot of my time wandering around watching random teams play and see how much fun they were having. We met this guy who sat beside clown's team who was a serious gamer. Guy didn’t even sleep for 2-3 days and was just straight up gaming the whole time and was chill to hang out with. He had a cooler and everything full of food to keep him going at it. If that guy should happen to read this, contact me on irc or on gotfrag. The main part of the first day was just to set up the 2nd day where a fair amount of decent matches would be played. Surprisingly after the little bit of a delay that was because of internet the matches were ran really smoothly I thought and no problems had occurred for the rest of the day. Only problem was maybe lack of hltv’s. The 2nd day was a lot better in terms of competition and overall “excitement”. The first match that was worth watching was NSU vs EG which obviously I have a recap of the match up on GotFrag. It was one of the more entertaining matches to watch because of the rivalry to be Canada’s top team. It lived up to what I expected but I was sad to see my friends lose. But then again, I am friends with a few guys on the NSU team so it was a win win you can say. The match wasn’t fun in terms of yelling and all of that, both teams were pretty quiet and this LAN lacks the type of sound of a major event or anyone with a little bit of heart to get up and yell to pump his team up. The only team that really did a good job of it was Vortex and they obviously placed higher then maybe most would have expected. Winout.CS has just strolled though the bracket unscathed which was expected to be honest with maybe a little bit of a scare from NP which was 16-13 I believe. EG ended up losing to team vortex or vortex gaming who knows which obviously the gotfrag trolls are going to love as well as the top players in the NA scene because whats more fun then making fun of Canadians right? (you A holes) But NSU right now is going to be in the finals to face Winout.CS and I wish them luck cause I would love for a Canadian team to win (featuring france) but chances are it will not happen because they have to win 2 in a row and vs a team like Winout.CS that wont be easy for them. I wont be here to blog or anything about it since I gotta get heading home because of school and 6-7 hours wont be fun driving so im not staying for the finals. Anyways I am getting forced to get off by some French admins so im heading off but overall it was always a great lan to attend and a lot of fun. Quality of the admining though was questionable because people could have literally configed during matches with no problem or done a lot of things since admins never actually watched the matches. But as for troubleshooting and making sure nothing else went wrong it was well done. I look forward to coming to ETS again next year as a player though, this writing stuff sucks… Anyways peace out, Hope this wasn’t too damn boring… and if it was its cause it was censored! |
