Counter-Strike: ESEA Invite S2 Playoffs Melee

By: Nick Pitts - Published April 09, 2009 at 9:10 PM EDT - Writer Archive
ESEA begins it's inaugural invite division post-season. X3O and compLexity kick off the action, in a rematch of the season one open playoffs.
Playoffs are finally here, after a long and eventful regular season. Either win, or go home (well technically lose twice and go home). Everyone seems to be quite pleased with the map rotation, which is starting off on dust2.

With the first set of matches, we definitely have some awesome matchup.s Starting off on a bit of the slow end, we have an improving coL team playing against a top X3O team. CompLexity is going to need to be overprepared and hope X3O is playing with their elbows to have a chance at winning. But, they should probably start preparing for lower bracket.

Then we have three matches which are bound to please the spectators. EG and Pandemic should be exciting. Foogz and s0nNy are going to come out with guns blazing and hopefully pick EG apart because of their seemingly lost teamwork since their move to the organization. But, knowing Evil Genuises, they are going to be well prepared for the playoffs.

POV has been on a hot streak lately and are hoping to emulate their CNC win in the playoffs. They will be facing off against a strong iDemise team though, which are definitely not a push over. I have faith in POV that they can top iDemise even with tuBBy ripping stuff up.

Winout and Gravitas will definitely be the match to watch for this round in my opinion. Number five and four seed battling it out, nobody should be disappointed. This Winout roster seems pretty strong and for sure have a chance to topple Gravitas. But, Gravitas is arguably the best team in the nation (top 2 at least?) but that is on LAN.

This is online, which is a bit different for a few treams. Hopefully they have all prepared for that nice prize pot in the end.
