Immunity will look to bounce back from their ESWC showing, as they take on ALTERNATE in an opening round best-of-three match-up. ![]() For ALTERNATE, it's spent quite some time as seemingly Germany's second-string team. Always a team that looked to have potential, and it surely has shown flashes of it, they've never really had the past outstanding performances that would have propelled them into the upper tier of Counter-Strike teams. They always seemed to frustratingly play to everyone's expectations. That changed during this year's Extreme Masters, where they grabbed a 2nd place finish at the European finals and represented Germany at the Global Finals. And at said finals, they seemed to assert themselves even more, by playing well through the group stage and finally dropping to the 2nd place finisher, MYM. For Australia's Immunity, we get another chance to look at a team we don't get to see much, and they can only hope for a better showing. After being stuck in the hardest group of the ESWC Masters, confidence couldn't have been very high for the Aussies. Being incredibly overmatched, Immunity was dispatched quickly by three of the top teams in the world, amassing only 20 rounds for. Immunity got a bitter taste of what it's like to play against the best, and hopefully took that experience to heart as a learning one. Their fellow countrymen and other fans from around the world can only hope that they've retooled and learned a way to compete on the world stage. The format at this Grand Final doesn't necessarily lend itself well to an upset, but if Immunity happens to get their best maps and takes it to ALTERNATE early, we could be in for some close and exciting matches.
