SK Counter-Terrorist Side de_nuke:

Overview:

With a wide variety of positions coupled with quick rotations and great counter nades, SK is one of the toughest teams in the World to take rounds from on nuke. On most rounds they'll put 3 inside with walle playing floor, tentpole playing on top of hut or moving around in rafters, and allen watching hut from up in rafters. zet will watch ramp room alone and robban will play one of many floater positions whether it be outside, up in rafters for support, or backing up zet in ramp room.

On the strat we are about to look at, SK has already won quite a few rounds and walle has enough money to buy an awp to show us what he does best. Instead of actually overloading the upper site with three people, walle covers outside, while everyone else pretty much does what they always do, leaving two inside, one in ramp room, and robban doing his thing.

The Setup:

walle - awp, nades, kit
robban - m4, nades, kit
allen - m4 (has an AK from save), nades, kit
tentpole - m4, nades, kit
zet - m4, nades, kit

*It's important to realize that even with an open area outside like on nuke, it isn't always important to send an awper there. Most of the time SK just settles with having 5 riflers positioned around the map that they utilize well by putting down good counter flashes and smokes as well as hitting easy, open shots. A good awper of course is always a great asset outside, and SK will use walle there if the situation is right, but it isn't always necessary for success on this map.

Strat Breakdown:

Step 1: From the start of the round, SK hurries quickly into position and puts down a solid amount of flashes and smokes to stop any quick rush their opponents might try. walle rushes to the red box beside big garage outside and peaks across the map for a few seconds waiting for a push. He then moves around, trying not to stay in one position for too long as he checks both red rock jump and long outside. While he is setting up out there, the rest of his teammates move quickly to their spots inside and lay down their defenses to allow for proper set up. zet and robban head into ramp room where zet lays down a smoke towards radio room and hides behind boxes, while his teammate flashes into ramp halls to stunt a rush. As for the final two, allen and tentpole head up into rafters where they place a smoke at hut entrance and then put two flashes into the hut. tentpole quickly drops to floor where he keeps his gun at squeaky door for a few seconds while his teammate above remains in rafters and starts moving to the far side.

Step 2: Like in most rounds, a player on your side will eventually die and you'll need to adjust accordingly. In this round, after getting a nice pick on zonic on red rock, walle gets taken out by sunde, and his team is forced to take action. Normally, walle would remain in position outside and then when needed would rotate either through mini into upper or down into lower depending on where the bomb goes. However, with his loss, everyone else starts to rotate a bit to meet the rush from outside that he has surely called. tentpole hops up onto hut where he aims his gun at mini, and then pulls back to spam a wall in hopes of clipping someone outside. allen waits on the far side of rafters with his AK out waiting for a push from hut, before he decides to head back towards ladder on rafter, while dropping a fresh smoke onto hut door. With walle down, robban moves into ladder room door where he keeps his m4 on outside, while zet remains in ramp room, coming more to the center of the room in case he needs to rotate out quickly.

Step 3: With the outside rush halted, and the sounds of mTw making their way back into staging room, the SK players make a few more slight adjustments in their positions before they set up to take the round. Both robban and allen are near the same position watching outside and mini from their spots, with allen remaining up in rafters going back and forth between both spots. tentpole drops to the floor beside right vent to watch hut for a bit, before he hears movement outside, which causes him to make a break to hide behind bomb boxes towards the end of the step, and let his other two teammates in the area keep an eye on mini. zet remains in ramp room still peeking, waiting for mTw to make their move so that he can push up behind them and pick off any stragglers.

Step 4 (the takedown): With everyone in position and the enemy about to make their move, SK comes to life and lays down a flurry of bullets which decimate all incoming opponents. With two members of mTw coming from mini, one from squeaky, and one from hut, SK quickly uses carefully placed counter nades and aggressive positions to stifle the attack before it barely gets started. tentpole remains hidden behind bomb boxes where he pops out to fire at the enemy coming out of squeaky and then turns to his left a bit and takes out whimp in mini. allen from up in rafters puts a nade into hut and then puts his gun on mini where he gets the first entry kill on sunde and then whips his gun around to take out ave in hut door. robban drops a nade deep outside throw ladder room window, then rotates up ladder into rafters where he avenges allen by taking out MJE who had come out squeaky door. As for zet, he misses all the action as he rushes from ramp into staging room and through hut just in case mTw were able to push in.

Conclusion: SK does a really good job of positioning themselves for easy entry kills, as well as laying down strong nades to cut into the health of their enemies. Even with the early loss of their cannon outside, the team moves fluidly into their next set up, cutting off any advancement mTw might have had if they just continued along the same path. Also, once the assault on the upper site actually occurs, having tentpole behind bomb boxes, popping out and laying down fire at his enemies, causes mTw to hesitate on their targets which gives both men in the rafters times to hit their shots and lock up the round. With strong teamwork, as well as good movement and solid positioning, SK is able set up a very strong defense against one of the World's best teams.

Running The Strat Yourself:
Unlike the Terrorist side strat, there isn't as much technical work that needs to be done to run this one effectively.

The obvious first thing to do is select your best awper and have them play outside where walle was at. Instead of moving out into the open though, look for the early pick at boxes, check red rock, and then move back towards ladder room and play the crossing. There is no point in trying to be aggressive early on if you can avoid getting caught in a bad position and instead setting up properly to reroute the opponent. As for the other positions, the only other really important one would be ramp room where you'll more than likely be leaving a single player to hold it alone. Make sure you have a solid, smart fragger in position there who can hold their own against incoming rushes and knows when he/she needs to back off and wait for help.

The only other major thing to work on when trying this set up is to make sure your teamwork and rotations are working properly. A big problem for young teams is that they don't make proper calls or they don't make their teammates aware of known enemy positions which result in bad set ups and weak defenses. Make sure that when you hear something, like SK did countless times throughout this strat, that you let your team know. Also, make sure you are working with your team on re takes and holds. Don't be afraid to have to hold against an incoming rush, and try not to bait teammates, leaving them open and defenseless against enemy fire.

As long as you follow these fews step and adhere to the warnings above, you and your team should have no problem defending against opponents. Just stay calm and cool, and work together.
