Evil Geniuses takes on Norwegian team Alchemists in group play of Dreamhack Summer 2009. Both teams have shown that they can put up rounds, and even take maps against top international teams, however neither team has been able to show consistency yet. This tournament will be an opportunity for both teams to prove that they're a top team. While Alchemists has swapped out two of their players since they last attended an international tournament, a move that may have decreased the team chemistry, EG is fresh off a boot camp at Inferno Online in Stockholm which was taken for the sole purpose of building up team chemistry and refining strategies against top euro teams. The top spot they will be fighting for could be very crucial to each team's overall placing as a first seed will all but guarantee that they do not have to face SK, the only top 3 team in attendance, until later in the bracket stages. A second place team may face SK in the first round of bracket play and find themselves facing an early exit out of the tournament. While the bracket play will be a best of three format, the group play is one single map. This will either play as an advantage for a team, or a disadvantage depending on the map selection. Based on previous results it would seem EG is weak on inferno, while Alchemists is strong on it. Alchemists' weakest map appears to be train. EG's strongest map is most likely dust2. This match up should end up in favor of EG as long as it isn't on inferno, with their boot camp and the individual experience of the players they should be able to pull out a win versus the Norwegians who have less experience in big tournament play, as well as less team chemistry. However, the match will not be easy as I predict close matches on dust2 or nuke, however if it goes to train it may be a landslide as Alchemists' previous train matches were heavily in favor of their opposition. Look for the winner of this match, whoever it may be to take Group D and make it into the top4 of the tournament, as they'll likely meet a middle tier swedish team in the first bracket match. As always stay tuned to GotFrag for more coverage of Dreamhack including score updates and more as the weekend continues! ![]() vs.![]()

Best of luck to both teams. I'm excited to watch.
Go Alchemists!
I'm interested in someone other than EML playing for France, and it's nice to see an SoA lineup again. Too bad one of them goes home early with SK in that group. Crack Clan vs. EG will be a fun match if it happens. Oh, and Lemondogs with Gux and GR should be fun to watch also, too bad it's not the entire fnatic lineup(but that wouldn't be fair, now would it?).
Even if this isn't entirely the top-of-the-top in terms of teams, it should still be pretty entertaining.
Also, I didn't want to go back and check, but who'd Alchemists replace?
They crushed all opposition at the norwegian qualifier and won the final 16-0 and 16-5.
But I am worried about havin 2 callers in the same lineup (Azid and zEn).
But whi knows, maybe it is for their own benefit?
>_>
Hopefully aU steps up to the plate and wins vs EG, but who knows, maybe they'll be whooped by a BYOC-team ;P
Anyways. GL KARL WILLIAM!
