Counter-Strike: ESEA-I: Meet Back 2 Back

By: Matt DiVito - Published July 24, 2009 at 1:16 PM EDT - Writer Archive
With the ESEA-I Playoffs just around the corner, GotFrag gives you an inside look on the teams attending.
It's finally that time. For the first time in ESEA's history, it will be hosting the Invite division playoffs on LAN. This ups the challenge just a bit more for teams who do not regularly LAN. The event will kick off with a bunch of fun "skill" games between the teams. It will then move on to a best-of-three double elimination bracket.

So without further interruption, lets find out about our third team:

Team Name: Back 2 Back
ESEA-I Place: Third
ESEA-I Record: 14-2
LAN Events: WCG Quiver Shoot-Out, Pre-ESEA Lethal Gamers
Back 2 Back

United States Ric "iNERTiA" Bundy
United States Nazar "stENoOo[Lg]" Vynnytsky
United States Alex "hazard" Martins
United States Joe "spyro" Perez
United States David "zid" Chin

The team will be playing Blight.usa in their first match up for the LAN Playoffs.

Back 2 Back had a very successful season in ESEA-I, tying two other teams with a fantastic 14-2 record, those teams being Complexity and Evil Geniuses. Having the third amount of rounds for, they settled for third place in the final standings.

The former 00 team headed out to New York City last weekend for the WCG Quiver Shoot-Out, looking to stock up on some LAN experience before the upcoming ESEA Finals, as well as grab a piece of the cash prize. After easily moving through the initial rounds, B2B was dispatched after losing two of their next three matches, to the eventual first and second place winners, Complexity and Gravitas.

Shifting their focus towards this weekend, Back 2 Back arrived in Dallas for LG's Pre-ESEA Finals tournament. However, after moving through the initial rounds, much like the WCG event, they were eerily eliminated on the very same maps as during the Shoot-Out (being Inferno, followed by Dust2).

Inferno in particular, has been a pain in their side, with Back 2 Back's two losses during the season coming on Inferno; and in tournament play, the matches that have sent them to the lower bracket have both been played on Inferno.

The key for Back 2 Back in the upcoming finals will be overcoming the hurdle in facing quality opponents that they've been unable to surpass on LAN, and to shore up on their Inferno play, as it will no doubt play a crucial role if they want a top placing.
