GotFrag takes a look at the teams competing in the upcoming 2009 edition of the WCG USA Finals.

United States Evil Geniuses

United States Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert
United States Tyler "Storm" Wood
United States Matt "Warden" Dickens
United States Danny "fRoD" Montaner
United States Travis "tuBBy" Bechtol

EG is currently one of the strongest teams in North America. With a recent first place victory at GameGune Mexico, and losing only 1 map the entire time (the loss was to WemadeFox, 16-14), being undefeated in the ESEA league, and doing exceptional in CEVO-P, it would normally be hard to expect them to not place top 2. However, with Lurppis being unable to play, because he is not an American citizen, tuBBy will be standing in for him. tuBBy is currently backup for Loaded, and has recently played as a member of Nightmare Online, MugnMouse, and desire2excell (d2x). Without the strength of Lurppis' calls it will be interesting to see how well EG can play.

United States compLexity

United States Andrew "Irukandji" Timmerman
United States Ryan "NineSpot" Bell
United States Jeff "Hero" Mettetal
United States Derek "dboorN" Boorn
United States Scott "evolution" Cavallero

With recently deciding not to go to GameGune Mexico, because of personal schedule conflicts, it is unclear where coL stands in comparison to EG on lan. The last time the two teams faced on lan was at the ESEA-i grand finals. coL came from the lower bracket to win one Bo3 against EG, but lost the second, thus giving the victory to EG. coL is a highly ranked contestant to take 1st place, and with EG not using their starting 5, it gives them a good leg up. Also with compLexity just winning CEVO-P, they have the momentum they need to carry into this weekend.

United States Loaded

United States Nazar "steno" Vynnytsky
United States Michael "chE" Guevara
United States Ric "iNERTiA" Bundy
United States David "zid" Chin
United States Matt "Lim" Beahan

Loaded has done about average in the ESEA league, and slightly better in the CEVO league. They are an experienced team and although I do not expect them to win it is very plausible that they could pull off an upset. chE is both smart, an underrated player, and as well as an experienced caller. zid has been a very dangerous awper, and has been for a long time, who will be a very important player for Loaded. Lim, steno, and iNERTiA cannot be left out either, all have serious experience, and are capable of pulling off a good showing. Loaded just needs everyone of their players to be at 100%.

United States Turmoil

United States Ediz "goodfornothing" Basol
United States Thomas "thoMz" Garcia
United States Derrick "impulsivE" Truong
United States Ben "ben" Hui
United States Joe "perez" Perez

Although Turmoil did not do as well as EG at GameGune, they did manage to take the team into over time, twice. This is a team that has a lot of chemistry, intelligent calls from goodfornothing, and the chance to have any player blow up at any time and have a huge match. A big part of their strength, aside from fantastic teamwork, is the ability for any one of them to come up huge. It will be very possible for Turmoil to take top 2.
