GotFrag takes a look at the top six teams competing in the ESEA-I LAN Playoffs. ![]() This weekend is where they prove that they are still on top in the North American LAN scene. Right after this event the team will be heading to China to play in the WCG Global Finals. This event should pan out to be some really good LAN practice before they get there. The team will be getting a BYE first around as they are the #1 seed going into this event. They suffered their only two losses on de_lite throughout the season. One of those losses came in a blowout by MoB gaming and the other a forfeit to Excello. Because of the way the brackets work out, EG will not have to play de_lite unless it shows up with them in the Finals. EG's ESEA Playoffs Roster: Matt "Warden" Dickens Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert Tomi "Lurppis" Kovanen Danny "fRoD" Montaner Tyler "Storm" WoodLeague Record: 14-2 Seed:1st Expected Finish: They will be top three, but anything but a trip to the Finals will be a great upset for the team. They will potentially have to beat out coL or Turmoil to make it to the finals, something that will be their biggest challenge of the event. Interview with a PlayerWe caught up with Tomi "Lurppis" Kovanen to ask him a few questions about the upcoming LAN Finals. The past few weeks your players have been going on vacation - You to Finland, n0thing to Mexico, and Warden to Hawaii. How has this hindered your preparations as you guys are trying to defend your championship this year. It took out roughly two weeks of our practice but considering we've been practicing for two weeks now, and found a grand total of 4 scrims during that time, I doubt it would have made any difference. You guys recently won WCG and will be going to China right after this event. In China you will not be able to play, has that played a factor into how much pratice you guys have split between you and tubby or has ESEA come before WCG? No, as I said we haven't found any scrims at all and Travis has work starting at 9pm so we've just been going over some new strats and setups and I'll do that with Travis in China as we have three extra days there before the tourney. Who do you see as your biggest rival in these Playoffs? coL and Turmoil |
