Counter-Strike: elemeNt Interviewed

By: Trevor Schmidt - Published April 23, 2004 at 11:50 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Now that the dust has settled in his move from SK to NoA, I had the chance to sit down with elemeNt and discuss his past with SK, current plans and his future with NoA. He even gets into Knoxville's social life, quite the entertaining read.

elemeNt: Note the new digs.
First of all, please introduce yourself to everyone.

Hello, I'm Ola Moum also known as elemeNt to many.

What was the biggest reason that you're no longer a part of SK?

Knoxville and several things which I disputed within the SK organization.

There has been a big deal made of your move, did you expect this much publicity and interest in all of this?

Gary has been hyping this up as much as he could do get as much publicity out of it as possible, and well... Good job Gary :o)

You currently live in Norway and attend school. What is the timetable to join the rest of your team in California and what do you expect of the experience?

Hmh. Around june sometime! When my exams are done. Expect lots of sun! Gettin a pink cadillac, crusin by the beach, checkin out girls.

A lot has been made of your strategic abilities and even team leadership skills. SK manager bds has mentioned in a recent interview that while early on you did a lot, recently you didn't do much of that for SK.swe. With you no longer being able to fill that role for SK, how much of an impact will your departure have on their team?

Well I don't totally agree with what he is saying, but if he is right they won't have a problem.

With SK threatening to take legal action on a possible breach of contract, how do you think this is going to reflect on competitive gaming and did you expect this much to come of it?

I still hope we can solve this in a professional way, and not go that way. None of the sides would earn anything from it, only bad PR. And money.

Do you have any regrets on a personal side leaving SK.swe, friends and other relationships?

Everyone in SK.swe have close bands with each other. I live in Norway, and I haven't established the same kind of relationship as the rest have, so no, I don't feel that bad about it. I have more anger for the SK organization rather than regrets.
