Rival de_train defense

hanes

Playing close quarters on the ladder room of de_train is probably one of the most difficult tasks in the game, this is why teams like to put their all-star player here and that is exactly why hanes plays this position.

Hanes plays the ladder room coming out of the Z hallway with a smoke to the terrorist middle then flashbangs heading into the ladder room. After these are thrown to slow down a rush hanes is all over this part of the map with his colt watching the ladder from various angles. His 2 favorite spots are going to be behind the power box and on top of the ladder train. Every so often hanes will flash the ladder room twice and head in to play right below the ladder as well.

exodus

Exodus will be the alley player, and this position has a lot of pressure on it, due to it getting hit by 2-3 terrorist on outer bombsite offensive tactics.

Exodus will almost always be playing the alley from the same position after throwing early flashbangs deep into the alleyway. From here exodus likes to sit and wait, when he can confirm the offense is there he likes to throw his second flashbang and fall back to the 5 train and spam the wall to the alley. Very rarely will he sit and take the offense head on from here.

masternook

Masternook will be playing the middle outside and he plays this very aggressively. Coming out of spawn he starts the round off with a quick flashbang over the 5 train to blind a middle rush then he crouches down to shoot any crossing terrorists.

After this is secure he loves to play around the tower train from various positions. He plays under it watching a small crack of middle, on top of it, even in front of it completely exposed, but hopefully catching the offense offguard.

If the offense does not see masternook anywhere around the ground around this train then there is an excellent chance that he is playing from the tower this round.

medias/ph33r

Medias and ph33r are handling the inner bombsite in a pretty much traditional fashion. Medias will be covering the top ramp while ph33r covers the low ramp.

Medias is going to try to play this position as much as possible with an AWP from various far back spots in the bombsite, but mostly just from the ramp.

Ph33r is going to have the responsibility of covering the low ramp close range with an colt while he plays all over the site. Mostly around the train closest to the low ramp, but if he is not here expect to see him under, or around the bomb train.

Rival de_train offense

Rival has a very nice 2-1-2 fast paced tactic that they like to run a lot on this side of the map. Unfortunately their shots were off against D!E at CPL or this tactic would have gone great.

This tactic sends 2 alley, 1 middle, and 2 down the ladder quick. This tactic is based around the nades that will be coming from the ladder room. 2 smokes going towards the Z hall/bomb train and flashes right in front of Z. From here the outer bombsite is taken by Rival with AK's all over the map.

*Defensive note* There may be a slight variation of this tactic where the 2 ladder players attempt to take the low ramp and head to the Z hall from the inner bombsite.

When this tactic doesn't work Rival likes to group up sending all 5 to the white halls and head to the inner site. From here they like to over smoke the low ramp very deep to throw off a defender playing from far back. Not only will these smokes cover the low ramp, but they send a few into the bombsite as well to give them enough cover to plant. When Rival finally resorts to this tactic don't expect to see any fakes and players holding back in the ladder room or alleyway. They like to stick together when they do this.
