Counter-Strike: The Adjustable Defense

de_train

A standard setup: 1 alley, 1 middle, 1 ladder, 1 inner top ramp, 1 inner low ramp.

This setup usually places an AWPer covering the alley, a player on the 5 train covering the middle, and the last outside player covering the ladder room . This player must be creative in figuring out a way to defend this passage - he or she can either guard with a colt from close up, or an AWP from the bomb train (much farther back). Inside, one player usually watches the upper outlet from the back with an AWP and the lower outlet with a close-range colt.

An Aggressive Setup:

The most common aggressive setup places two colts in the inner site. The player covering the upper outlet pushes up to the end of the hallway, while the player watching the lower outlet spots from the bottom of the ramp with a flashbang. From here, he or she can blind the offense on sight in tandem with his or her teammate, who then peeks post-flash and demolishes most of the rush.

Defensive Setups:

A defensive setup for de_train is usually used by a team with very high AWP skill. This setup is based on nothing more than each position being played with an AWP from as far back as possible. The upper outlet player defends from the normal position, while the lower outlet player covers from the back right corner of the room (closest to CT spawn. The ladder CT covers from at bomb train, with the other two outside CT's playing from back of the 5 train and the back of 6 train, respectively. The alley player (covering from the back of the 6 train) is obviously placed in a very tough situation in this setup.

In a less all around defensive setup, only one player watches the inside bombsite - this time from the Z hall, covering both the upper and lower outlets by periodically switching between the two. Meanwhile, the other four players are outside, playing from the standard defensive setup, but placing two players at middle or alley instead of one.

A Miscellaneous Setup:

The Titans use a defensive setup on de_train that is wholly their own. In this setup, one player pushes up on the lower outlet ramp, cover inner by him or herself. Outside is played exactly the same as the alternate defensive setup just mentioned in the last paragraph.
