All eyes have been on SK.de since they have taken over for the Swedish powerhouse, and they continued their winning streak here. TEC put up a great match, but it just wasn't enough for SK's quick offensive tactics. Come inside for bootman's analysis of the match. Unfortunately, my plane landed a little bit late and I was unable to catch the first half of this match to analyze. All I know is that TEC won the offensive side of de_nuke 8-7, and didn't manage to win the match. There is never a reason to win the offensive first half of de_nuke and not take the match. TEC had a great start in this second half. t0ol killed an amazing four players in the pistol round and got a stab in on the fifth before being taken down. TEC finished off the last SK player to win the pistol round. SK didn't manage to get a bomb plant in either the first or second round; so they couldn't buy in the third either. The first gun round came up and SK was absolutely dominated by TEC. Now TEC has won four straight rounds with SK only buying in the fourth, but getting the bomb down. This allowed SK to buy, but not too much. SK decided to do an outside to upper bombsite split with players coming in through the shed. They did this very fast paced and with early smokes/flashes at the squeaky door to keep the upper bombsite blind. This worked very well and SK continued this tactic for the next few rounds. Now TEC knew EXACTLY what SK was going to do, but just couldn't figure out the best way to adjust to it. TEC had a standard setup with Jaden playing outside, Gouki floor, Elude rafters, and moses and t0ol in the ramp room. Once they realized that even IF SK was going to be coming outside, they will almost always come back to the inner bombsite. In this case you change your setup to pretty much the same thing, but either stack rafters or play near front entrance. This can be done, but your spot has to be played a little smarter due to that fact of the offense playing so fast paced. The best idea for TEC would have been to play a little more Rival-like. This would have sent both elude and Gouki into the rafters with one of them dropping down into the bombsite from the boxes to cover floor. This would have worked out better, due to the fact that Gouki was either blind or dead within seconds of the buy time ending, because of SK's quick flashes and smokes to the squeaky door. Once you drop onto the floor you give up a measly 25 hp, but you are able to dodge virtually any early pick or flashes and can use the bombsite boxes to shield yourself from quick rushes. Next, rather than Jaden playing his default spot outside, he should have taken a roll like ph33r's. This is where you start off outside spotting for a quick rush with a colt, but you don't play in the garage, you play entrance. You play this spot at entrance, and you have quite a few objects to hide behind to mess with the offense, and you are quick backup to the inner bombsite. With SK sending 2-3 outside and then the rest inside every round, this would have probably been the best adjustment for TEC to take. Towards the end of the match, moses wised up a little. He realized upper was getting taken extremely fast, so he hopped on the flank quickly. T0ol's job was to fall back to rafters, while moses would be able to flank through the radio room and the holding area. If they would have caught on to the fact that SK let their guard down at ramp every round, moses could have been hitting the flank earlier in the match. This may not have changed the outcome, but we know the outcome would have been a lot closer. TEC had a great tournament only losing to begrip 16-14 and SK.de 16-13. We all expected a much bigger performance from the team, but other than some minor adjustments, they all had a great tournament. Other than that, SK.de is going a lot further than anyone expected and we all can't wait to see who else they can take out before their tournament is over. ICMATCH=74 |
