Counter-Strike: Bootman's GamerCo vs. compLexity Wrapup

Well it is the semi-finals of the upper bracket and two more American teams are facing off. While some did forsee GamerCo making it this far, team compLexity was more of a dark horse. Come inside for bootman's analysis of this match.
Well nobody thought compLexity would make it this far, but they did. They faced off with team GamerCo on de_dust2 for the semi-finals of the upper bracket. Well, as soon as I heard about GamerCo playing compLexity on de_dust2, I said if GamerCo loses, they need to leave.

There's never much to say tactically about team GamerCo no matter what the match is. I'm not saying they're stupid, but their tactics are pretty much non-existent.

GamerCo started out on the defensive side of de_dust2. GamerCo used to have one of the most interesting defenses on de_dust2 that I have ever seen. Teams used to never know what new stacks GamerCo would do, or which site they would overload, and it would always throw teams off. I remember around the time of ESWC, GamerCo could run a 1-4 setup ON DEFENSE, and pull it off extremely effectively. We did not see it much here.

This was a kind of smart move on GamerCo's behalf. CompLexity has bootcamped with GamerCo for about a week, so coL had a pretty good idea of GamerCo's defense. I was pretty shocked when I saw how defensively exodus and medias played on the catwalk. Usually these two have a lot of flashbangs and offensive peaks, but they tended to play back a little more this time.

CompLexity had fairly simple tactics, and that may have been the reason GamerCo ended up coming out on top. CoL either had a split middle/B or send a 3-2 split to bombsite A. In the middle of the half GamerCo adapted to this and bombsite A became impenetrable. Meanwhile the hanes and masternook combination locked down A bombsite once again.

When the half ended, it was pretty close, and still anybodies game.

GamerCo did what they normally do on this map. They either do a distraction B and start going four catwalk slowly to see whether or not the team is pushed or playing a defensive bombsite, and it was perfect.

CompLexity's defense was not any sort of setup for the way GamerCo plays at all. CompLexity's setup looks a lot like 3D's old setup with all three pushing long A, two staying A, and one watching catwalk from the A ramp. Well if GamerCo is sending four up the catwalk, and they have some of the best aim on the planet, you might want to do something to slow them down.

Warden was usually the player playing on the A ramp with an AWP and didn't quite do the job. He was lacking with his nades and that is the key to holding the catwalk. Once the team takes the catwalk and is entering the bombsite, you really need to keep them blind. Once your team comes to back you up, you keep them blind and prevent a plant. GamerCo was planting the bomb virtually untouched and able to pick off warden, then the two coming up long A. Usually one would come spawn, and one would come cat and by the later rounds GamerCo knew exactly who was coming without even hearing them.

Storm and fRoD did an excellent job holding middle and bombsite B, but GamerCo didn't tend to go there to often.

This match was simply won by the better team and now GamerCo is facing the CPL champions on de_train in the upper bracket finals. Tune in to see who will win on Sunday.
