This is bootman's first installment of a new feature, Counter-Strike For Dummies. It goes over some pretty basic stuff, but sometimes that is what people need to focus on the most. Come inside to read about the importance of the bomb plant, or stay out because you are a genius. ![]() Introduction This article is being written to basically help every team from CAL-o to CPL champions maintain their sanity. What is the most irritating situation to lose on earth? Well I'd like to think a 3v1, 4v2, something like that as a terrorist with the bomb planted. Where one guy just comes in kills everything, and STILL has the time to bust out his defusal kit and disarm the bomb. The next thing you know you have five people on the verge of insanity ready to strangle one another via the internet. Well this article is here to keep you all out of the straight jackets and give some simple tips that will make it near impossible for the defense to win these kinds of rounds. Before we get started I am going to let all of you Counter-Strike Masters of the Universe I am sure you know every possible aspect of this game and you probably want to get very mouthy in the comments about how you "already knew this because you're a frickin' genius". Save your breath and my time and hit the X in the upper right corner of your monitor and this article is over. Now on this first page I am going to go over some quick tips on planting the bomb that aren't worthy enough of taking up a whole page, but are very underestimated. First off I need to talk about the importance of getting the bomb down. I cannot even begin to think of the number of times I have seen players covered by 3 or 4 teammates and they are sitting there looking at a spot IN THE BOMBSITE trying to kill a peaking defensemen. WRONG. When you have the cover and/or time, you get this bomb down no matter what. There is perfectly simple logic behind this. You play the defensive side, you know how it works. Your job on the offense is going to be to make the defensemen have as much going on in their head as possible. The more things he has to worry about, the more likely he is going to get so frustrated he can't concentrate on the bullet you are firing into his head. A normal defensive train of thought are things like "How should I watch my spot.", "Should I rotate?" "I wonder what the hell my partner is thinking". Simple stuff. Basically all they have to do is put their crosshair where they think the offense is going to come and start to fire. Now what is the train of thought for a defensive player with the bomb down? Endless. What bombsite did they plant at? How much time do I have? How am I going to retake this bombsite? If I were him where would I cover the bomb from? What are the most common places to watch the bomb from in this bombsite? Should I fake defuse or go for the kill and then defuse? I know exactly where this guy is, but I'm running out of time and I don't know if I should chase him or defuse? This is a small list of the thoughts rolling around your opponent as soon as they hear, "The bomb has been planted". So why waist any time? Get the bomb down first priority and you know for a fact this round is going to be over in less than a minute, and you have just made five defensive players have to think about fifty more things than you ever will. Next is bootman's money system 101. It is strictly preference, but in my eyes, every pistol tactic on every map should be based on the fact that you are getting the bomb down. On wide open maps I like fakes and sending 2 guys to the other bombsite with the bomb just to get it down. On sites with quick rushes I like to do fast splits that will overwhelm players and get you a bomb plant no matter what. You win the round no matter what if you at least get the bomb down. The reasoning is, if you get the bomb down first round, full save second round, you are guaranteed $4,000 3rd round. THIRD ROUND! That's AK, head armor, and a flash or HE or smoke, whatever the hell you want. Now let's say you are tricky enough to get the bomb down second round on a full save; now you can even buy an AWP for the whore on your team. He may not have armor, but hey, who has an AWP 3rd round. In my opinion buying d eagle/armor second round is way too risky if you got the bomb down, because you know for a FACT that you can make the third round the first gun round. People are way too used to the old money system forcing you to not buy until the fourth round that they still do stupid d.eagle/armor or half buys 2nd round. How about you just have head armor and a rifle? Makes sense. For the rest of the article it is going to be screen shot central for situations after you get the bomb down. |
