Counter-Strike: Counter-Strike For Dummies: The Bomb Plant

By: Chris Boutté - Published January 08, 2005 at 11:59 PM EST - Writer Archive
As mentioned before, one of the most frustrating parts of this game is being on offense and losing a 4 on 2, 3 on 1, 2 on 1, or any of those situations. As we said the defense has so much pressure on them, there is no reason they should win these situations at all. The biggest reason for this is two people will be watching the same spot, or a crucial spot isn't being covered. It is mostly about communication and this is a very quick and simple way to advance your game a LOT as a team.

What every team needs to do is go into an empty server, all players but the leader type kill and name five spots in each bombsite. Go into each bombsite on each map and name them. When you do this, you automatically know so many things. You know where your team died from, what spot isn't being covered now, and a great idea of where the person that killed them will be.

Remember it is also key to say what new spot you are watching after a player falls, then it is going to be priority based, I'll go over that next. Right now I am going to go over a few maps again and show five spots and just some random
bootman names to name them.

Bombsite A:

Catwalk: Two players here watching catwalk in a stacked positioning.

Long A: Two players here in a stacked position watching A. I know the bomb is planted for

catwalk, but when five players sit at catwalk they have a tendency to get naded. Not only that, but these two players are able to slow down the defense that much more.

Floater: This player can watch long A and spawn and pretty much just be used as a delaying

tool until the bombsite is taken over. He can always fall back deep into catwalk if overwhelmed.

Bombsite B:

Back of site: This player can watch window from underneath.

Right of door: Watches door.

Floater: This player can watch window or door without being seen by the other. He is in a great position to cover either and after a teammate falls.

Gay spot: Sorry if I offended anyone with this controversial name, but hey, its 2005.

Watching halls: Self explanatory, and as said before, he is in the best spot for a 1 on 1.

de_nuke

Bombsite A:

Right vent: This player can watch the rafters or peek when defense comes in from outside or even out of the shed.

On shed: Great position to watch rafters or outside.

Left vent: Left vent can watch rafters or outside or even if defense peeks the window of shed.

Shed: Although this shows the player watching outside, his main priority is going to be the
ramp room flank.

In the vent: Last resort. Put your worst player here to basically do nothing until the entire team is dead and then he can fly up to the top of the vent ladder and shoot the defuser.

Bombsite B:

Ramp flank: This is a pretty gung-ho position and you will most likely die. But it is a good indicator for the rest of your team.

Watching vents: From here you can see both vents.

Behind the box: He can watch ramp flank, both halls, and both vents from behind this box.

It's like a box that Jesus himself constructed as a carpenter.

Window hall: This player can watch for the outside player trying to run down this hallway,

or he can catch ramp flanks through the window, or jump out crazy style to kill a defuser.

Back halls: This is the most popular spot. You can sit and delay the bomb until the cows come home and then shoot the defuser through the glass with a d.eagle or rifle.

de_train

Bombsite A:

Under tower: This is a great spot to be in. Usually you hide behind the train until you hear
the defuse, though.

Power Box: Good long range shot.

Tower: This is great for bomb delays since you have to either HE this spot or go all the way
up the ladder and try to get a jumping headshot.

Ladder room: Another good long range shot. If you have the time to get here, it is really ideal.

Z hall: You will see most of the action here.

Bombsite B:

Ladder flank: Self explanatory. Be careful though, it puts you very far from the bomb.

Low Ramp: You can watch Z hall, spawn, or delay the bomb from here.

High ramp: Default spot.

Under Pop Dog: Good spot to watch Z. Very sneaky if u back up a little and catch people running past.

Under ladder: This is good for bomb delay and you can usually catch people in clutch

situations due to them looking up at high ramp.

de_inferno

Bombsite B:

Back Right: Cross-fire with back left.

Back Left: Cross-fire with back right

Banana/Spawn entrance: Pretty gung-ho as well. You will see people first and probably die.

Take out as many as possible little soldier.

Back halls: Watching back halls

Boosted back halls: Helping out your partner.

Bombsite A:

Halls: Watching hall flank

Watching middle: This can be watched from here or inside of the window room.

Watching spawn from pit: This is great with an AWP picking off people coming from spawn or library.

Watching middle from pit: You are the second line of defense if middle player drops.

Inside of the site: It's fun to kill people while they are trying to run past you to kill the pit players.

Well I was going to go on into some clutch situations and explain priorities once players
fall in each one of these positions, but then I have nothing for lessons! If this helped anyone on any level my job is accomplished. Good luck in your next match. This is bootman signing out.
